Существительное scene обозначает то, на что говорящий смотрит, то, что ограничено взором; scene может обозначать как статическое явление, так и движение: a holiday scene in the street сценка/картина празднования/уличного гуляния (на которую как бы смотрит говорящий); a winter scene зимняя картина/пейзаж; a woodland scene лесной пейзаж; a village scene событие/сцена сельской жизни. Существительное view, в отличие от scene, обозначает то, что видит откуда-либо говорящий, поэтому view часто употребляется с обстоятельством, указывающим место, откуда идет наблюдение: a view of the river from my window вид на реку из моего окна; a room with a view of the sea комната с видом на море; to get a better view of the scene in the street получше увидеть (рассмотреть) происходящее на улице; exhibits on view выставленные на показ экспонаты; a post-card with a view of Oxford почтовая рткрытка с видом Оксфорда. Существительное sight, как и view, обозначает то, что находится в поле зрения говорящего, sight употребляется в словосочетаниях: to be out of sight быть вне поля зрения/скрыться из поля зрения; to come in sight появиться в поле зрения; to see the sights of the city осматривать достопримечательности города; a set of cards with sights of London набор открыток с достопримечетельностями Лондона. (2.) Русскому существительному вид в значении "внешний вид, внешность" соответствует английское appearance: to have a gloomy appearance иметь мрачный (внешний) вид или сочетание глагола to look с прилагательным: he looks gloomy (tired, happy) у него мрачный (усталый, счастливый) вид. (3.) A calm scene of grazing cattle.

¿To see, to watch o to look?
A menudo se usa con can o could: I can see the mountains from my bedroom. Puedo ver las montañas desde mi dormitorio.
To look at implica una acción deliberada: I saw an old atlas, so I opened it and looked at the maps.
I watched the planes in the sky with great interest. Igualmente puede indicar el paso del tiempo (we watched the animals playing for half an hour, durante media hora observamos cómo jugaban los animales), movimiento (they stood there watching the cars drive off into the distance, se quedaron allí de pie viendo cómo se marchaban los coches) o vigilancia (the policemen have been watching this house because they thought we were thieves, los policías estaban vigilando la casa porque pensaban que éramos ladrones). Para hablar de películas u obras de teatro usamos to see: Have you seen Hamlet?, ¿Has visto Hamlet? To watch se refiere a la televisión y los deportes en general: I always watch the television in the evening. Siempre veo la televisión por las noches. I like to watch football. Me gusta ver el fútbol. Al hablar de programas o partidos específicos podemos usar tanto to watch como to see: I like to see/watch the news at 9:00. Me gusta ver las noticias a las 9.00. Did you see/watch the match last night?, ¿Viste el partido anoche? ' veía' also found in these entries: Spanish: siglo - distancia - hacer - pedo English: card - everyplace - noticeable - sight - nowhere - unsympathetic -
