(1885-1933) Ларднер, Ринг (Ринголд) УилмерПисатель, журналист. Сотрудничал в провинциальных газетах, в 1913-19 работал спортивным обозревателем газеты "Чикаго трибюн" [ Chicago Tribune]. Затем перешел к сатирической прозе. Создал образ Кифа [Keefe], бейсболиста с куриными мозгами и огромным самомнением, от имени которого написаны рассказы в первой его книге "Ты же меня знаешь, Эл" ["You Know Me, Al"] (1916). Эта фраза стала символом глупости. Далее последовали сборники рассказов 1918 и 1919.
