с телегой, повозкой (а также полицейским фургоном), по старой памяти. связано много идиоматических оборотов.Dog-wagon — место, где продают дешевую еду, и ассоциация тут не с собакой, а с сосисками, которые в Америке до сих пор продают часто на улице из в традиционном стиле оформленных вагончиков или с тележек.
Off the wagon (to fall) — "развязать", начать пить после воздержания. Смысл - просто не удержатся (на повозке).
On the wagon fix — с предлогом on - значение противоположенное -"держится в завязке".
