"Маленький Париж", поэтическое название Ляйпцига, восходит к словам Гёте из трагедии "Фауст": "Mein Leipzig lob' ich mir! Es ist ein klein Paris und bildet seine Leute". Жители Дюссельдорфа также называют свой город "Klein-Paris". Название (Klaa Paris) сохранилось и в отношении одного из районов Франкфурта-на-Майне Хеддернхайма (Heddernheim). В 1866 г. после аннексии Франкфурта Пруссией (в результате победы Пруссии в Австро-Прусской войне) в городе были введены многочисленные ограничения общественной жизни, и у жителей Франкфурта появилась поговорка "Geht doch nach Heddernheim, dort seid ihr so frei wie in Paris" (Хеддернхайм был расположен за пределами города). Жители Гюстро также называют свой город "Klein-Paris". В XVII в. в Гюстровском дворце царили весьма свободные нравы, так как представители правящего дома содержали здесь своих куртизанок.
