III) werden. In dieser Bedeutung wird es nicht bes. übersetzt, sondern es liegt gemeiniglich in der Form des Futurums. z.B. es soll ihn noch gereuen, eum aliquando paenitebit: lieben mußt du mich, wenn wir wahre Freunde sein sollen, ames me oportet, si veri amici futuri sumus. – Ebenso wird unser »ich (er) soll noch« etc. durch nondum mit dem Pers. ausgedrückt, z.B. ich soll es noch wieder bekommen nondum mihi redditum est: er soll noch wiederkommen, nondum rediit.
IV) zur Bezeichnung eines Befehls. In diesem Falle drücken es die Lateiner meistens durch den Imperativ aus, z.B. du sollst schweigen, taceto. – od. durch velim m. folg. Konj, z.B. das sollst du mir beweisen! velim hoc mihi probes! – od. durch den bl. Konjunktiv, z.B.
