Рубашка. A stuffed shirt — претенциозный, высокомерный и спесивый человек. Сначала так называлась рубашка в витрине магазина. В настоящее время рубашки демонстрируют на манекенах, но манекены стали использоваться только в начале XX в., а до этого рубашку набивали бумагой, отсюда и возникло выражение stuffed shirt — набитая рубашка. Приказание keep your shirt on! означает сохранять терпение, не сердиться, — здесь имеется в виду человек, раздевающийся до пояса, чтобы начать драться. To get shirty — рассердиться:Don't get shirty with me! It's not my fault the train's late. — Не срывай на мне свою злобу! Я не виноват, что поезд опаздывает.
