14 I. Vocal ante consonante
En la lengua romance, no se halla i vocal ante otra vocal en principio de dicción, sino la y griega, como veremos al final del vocabulario. Vamos pues a los vocablos que comienzan por I vocal ante consonante, donde siempre usaremos del I, aunque algunos por ventura en algunos vocablos usarían más de y pero esto se hace para que sepan donde han de buscar el vocablo y no para quitar a nadie su costumbre o parecer, que por ventura le tienen bien fundado y yo le siguiera también si alguna firmeza hallara en ello, pero unos escriben de una manera y otras de otra. Pongamos pues por regla cierta, que siempre que fuere vocal en principio del vocablo se busque aquí y no en otra parte.
