¿To see, to watch o to look?
Los tres verbos reflejan tres conceptos muy distintos. To see hace referencia a la capacidad visual y no es fruto de una acción deliberada. A menudo se usa con can o could: I can see the mountains from my bedroom. Puedo ver las montañas desde mi dormitorio.
To look at implica una acción deliberada: I saw an old atlas, so I opened it and looked at the maps. Vi un atlas antiguo, así que lo abrí y miré los mapas.
To watch también se refiere a una acción deliberada, a menudo cuando se tiene un interés especial por lo que ocurre: I watched the planes in the sky with great interest. Miraba los aviones en el cielo con gran interés. ¿To see, to watch o to look?
Los tres verbos reflejan tres conceptos muy distintos. To see hace referencia a la capacidad visual y no es fruto de una acción deliberada. A menudo se usa con can o could: I can see the mountains from my bedroom. Puedo ver las montañas desde mi dormitorio.
To look at implica una acción deliberada: I saw an old atlas, so I opened it and looked at the maps. Vi un atlas antiguo, así que lo abrí y miré los mapas.
To watch también se refiere a una acción deliberada, a menudo cuando se tiene un interés especial por lo que ocurre: I watched the planes in the sky with great interest. Miraba los aviones en el cielo con gran interés. Igualmente puede indicar el paso del tiempo (we watched the animals playing for half an hour, durante media hora observamos cómo jugaban los animales), movimiento (they stood there watching the cars drive off into the distance, se quedaron allí de pie viendo cómo se marchaban los coches) o vigilancia (the policemen have been watching this house because they thought we were thieves, los policías estaban vigilando la casa porque pensaban que éramos ladrones).

To watch se refiere a la televisión y los deportes en general: I always watch the television in the evening. Siempre veo la televisión por las noches. I like to watch football. Me gusta ver el fútbol. Al hablar de programas o partidos específicos podemos usar tanto to watch como to see: I like to see/watch the news at 9:00. Me gusta ver las noticias a las 9.00. Did you see/watch the match last night?, ¿Viste el partido anoche?

¿To see, to watch o to look?
Los tres verbos reflejan tres conceptos muy distintos. To see hace referencia a la capacidad visual y no es fruto de una acción deliberada. A menudo se usa con can o could: I can see the mountains from my bedroom. Puedo ver las montañas desde mi dormitorio.
To look at implica una acción deliberada: I saw an old atlas, so I opened it and looked at the maps. Vi un atlas antiguo, así que lo abrí y miré los mapas.
To watch también se refiere a una acción deliberada, a menudo cuando se tiene un interés especial por lo que ocurre: I watched the planes in the sky with great interest. Miraba los aviones en el cielo con gran interés. Abrañar es alinear, arreglar en todas sus vertientes al ganado, no sólo el que se encuentra en las brañas, puertos o morteras, sino también el que permanece en las cortes (cuadras) de la misma aldea. A mediados de la primavera es cuando se empieza a subir el ganado escosu (que no da leche) para los puertos, estas reses suelen por regla general ser magüetas (novillas) de tres años para abajo, unas están dandu la cría (preñadas), otras son manías (que no están preñadas), luego más tarde, hacia la última quincena del mes de mayo, que es cuando ya no se pueden pacer más los préus (prados) porque sino no dan la cosecha de hierba que se recuétche (recoge) en el mes de xuliu (julio) denominado el mes de la yerbe (hierba). Así pues, cuando los prados ya no se pueden pacer, se sube al puerto todo el demás ganado, exceptuando las xunturas (yuntas) que han de acarrear la hierba, estas vacas suelen ser las bétchaes (paridas), o las que están próximas abétchadar (a parir). Es cuando llega entonces el momento de abrañar en los puertos, de ir hacer la braña. Miles de veces y en diferentes lugares de mi Tierrina, allá por los apenados y hambrientos años de la post-guerra, siendo yo un guaxetín (chiquillo), fui abrañar para los varios amos que como criadín por mala o buena fortuna yo he servido. Había que buscar al ganado que guareciendu (pastiando) se encontraba en el extenso y comunal puerto, que muchas veces era muy difícil de dar con él, por causa de la borrina (niebla), que no permitía ver a uno ni la propia mano dellantri de sous güétchus (delante de los ojos). Nos solíamos orientar por el sonido de las chuecas, chocaretas, zumbus o zumbiétchus (cencerros), que llevaban las vacas más responsables y serias por así denominarlo de cada cabana (cabaña), supuesto que estas reses suelen ser las que capitanean a todas las demás. Me recuerdo que los enormes felechales (helechos) y demás matoxus (matorrales) que eran más altos que mi cuerpo, que por doquier poblaban todo el puerto, se encontraban en los días de borrinas baxas (nieblas bajas), ameruxáus d'orbayu (llenos de agua) que me ponían de pingandu (mojado) lo mismo que si vestido me tirase al agua. Pero todo aquello era nada cuando lograba dar con las vacas, que alegraban tan difícil búsqueda, y afalándulas muy contento me dirigía hacia mi cabanón (cabaña) y después de muxilas (ordeñarlas) atizaba un bon fuéu, (prendía un buen fuego) dóu m'enxugaba la moyadura que m'enciétbechar. (Dónde me secaba la mojadura que me ataba). Una vez que estaba bien enxuchu (seco) muy dichoso me enzulaba (comía) la fugaz y sabrosa cena que tan sólo consistía, en un zapicáu de lleiche (un jarro de leche) acompangáu (acompañado) d'un cantexu de borona ou pan d'escanda. (Un trozo de pan de maíz o escanda). Chuéu, despós, endutbechábame nel xergoncín de paya, ya xurniaba toa la nuétche comu 'n anxelín del cielu xebráu de la man del sou Faedor. (Luego, después, encogiéndome en el jergón de paja, dormía toda la noche como un ángel de los cielos apartado de la mano del Hacedor). Hay vaqueirus que xuben (suben) todos los días por la mañana y de tarde hasta el puerto a hacer la braña, los que tienen corte (cuadra) en la braña, meten sus vacas dentro para ordeñarlas con tranquilidad, pero aquellos que no poseen cabanu (cuadra) tienen que buscar ordeñar al entestate (al aire libre). Casi todos los vaqueirus que tienen que catar (ordeñar) sus vacas al entestate, suelen llevar alguna couxa (cosa) de la aldea para que las vacas la coman y estén así quietas mientras las afoixinan (ordeñan), esto se llama el manoxu (manojo) que es según la época del año de diferente manera. Así en el mes de Xuniu ya xuliu ye de segáu, (junio y julio es de pación), en agosto, setiembre y octubre el manuxín (manojín) suele ser de las fuéas ya pereícoteirus de lus ñarbaxus, (plantas de maíz) y también de focháus de frisou (también de ramas de fresno), que les gusta mucho a las vacas y son muy sanas y nutritivas, así como también muy peligrosas para sous ventrones ya rumiaxes (vientres y rumiajes) si las comen demasiado calientes. Otros vaqueirus llevan sal que bazcuchan d'enría 'l campíz (vierten encima del campo) y como a las vacas les agrada todo lo sallado, comencipien a chamber (empiezan a lamer) en tal lugar hasta que terminan con todo el campizo dando tiempo a que el vaqueiru la ordeñe con toda tranquilidad. También existen otros más ingeniosos que arrebaten les ganes de mexar fasta la gora de afoixinar (que aguantan las ganas de mear hasta la hora de ordeñar) y así después meando en el campizo mientras que la vaca pace y lame el lugar meado ellos con rapidez la ordeñan. Otros vaquierus sólo hacen la braña una vez cada veinticuatro horas, bien porque sus vacas tengan poca leche, o porque les interese escosalas (secarlas) para así tan sólo subir al puerto una vez cada semana a verlas. Y hay otros vaqueirus que duermen y moran en sus cabañas de las brañas y tan sólo bajan a sus aldeas una vez a la semana. Existe la creencia entre las gentes de mi Tierra no documentadas en las ancestrales y hermosas costumbres de nuestras embrujadoras aldeas, creencia divulgada por escritores que no saben dónde tiene, pongo como ejemplo el caldar la vaca (ubre), de que en Asturias no hay más vaqueirus que los de la Alzada y no recuerdo en estos momentos qué otro lugar. Mas yo les digo ahora que esos babayus de despacho que se reúnen en cabanáes (rebaños) formando las infantiles y ridículas sociedades de «Amigos del Bable» o del «Conceyu del Bable», etc., etc., que lo único que saben es buscar una popularidad ya muxiyes la corexa a les ñobles xentes de miou Tierrina (y ordeñarles la cartera a las nobles gentes de mi Tierra). Digo que estas respetables personas lo único que saben de la Llingua y costumbres ancestrales de mi Asturias. es lo que plagian en los archivos, en los escritos de otros escritores ya fenecidos que la mayor parte de ellos tampoco en estas materias no tenían namái qu'una migayina (nada más que una migaja) de idea. Y ahora que ya para la posteridad dejo dicho lo que son estas rencuayas (ruinas) sociedades, compuestas por profesores y otras ilustres personas, que de no ganar la Guerra Civil el General Franco, de seguro que estarían de peones camineros, porque francamente creo que para otro menester ellos no sirven. Todos estos señores con sus teorías y conferencias mistificadas, no saben cómo habla el pueblo, ni como trabaja, ni cómo sufre y ríe, ni como canta y llora, las costumbres y el habla del sencillo, simple y natural pueblo, sólo se aprenden formando parte de ese pueblo que s’acueye 'l llabiegu, falandu la Llingua de nuexus mayores (se coge al arado hablando la lengua de nuestros mayores, todos los días del año). Yo no podré competir jamás, ni tan siquiera lo intento, en los saberes de todos estos señores licenciados y profesores de los números y las letras, porque por mala o buena fortuna los maestros que yo he tenido, no me enseñaron las sapiencias de tan hermosas profesiones, ya que ellos casi todos analfabetos por naturaleza en la dimensión de los signos, de los números y letras, en vez de poner entre mis manos un libro, me punxerun cuaxi disde miou ñacencia, una ferramienta paque trabayandu me ganara 'l potaxe que la probina de miou má non podía dame. (A un jato dentro del vientre de una vaca que al parirlo lo trajese al revés, cosa que hoy día no saben hacerlo muchos veterinarios). M'adeprendióu a inxertar lus pomares, zreizus ya peréus, (me enseñó a injertar los manzanos, los cerezos y perales), a fradar lus ciarrus pa que non dieren soma nus préus ya muxéranye 'l campíz el allumbrar mexor yerbe (a cortar los matorrales que cercaban los prados, para que no diesen sombra y le permitiesen al campo alumbrar mejor hierba). Me enseñó sin libros de ninguna clase a querer y respetar todas las criaturas vivientes, a no hacerlas sufrir ni esclavizarlas nunca, a servirme de ellas nada más que cuando la necesidad me obligase. Tamién me falaba, qu'en d'anguna teixá pudiés morar animal d'angún qu’en trabayu non lleldare. (También me decía que en ninguna casa debía de vivir animal alguno que un trabajo no efectuase). Me enseñó a ser libre y honrado, a querer y respetar a mis mayores, a no ser hipócrita ni servil, a no apartarme de la Natural Justicia hasta la muerte, y a no preocuparme mucho de las vanas leyes aunque en ocasiones injustamente las condenadas me castigasen. Me contó cientos de historias, leyendas y cuentos, me enseñó a pensar y filosofear con las cosas naturales, y todas estas maravillosas cosas yo las he aprendido, pensando y hablando en la embrujadora y galana Llingua Asturiana, por lo tanto yo conozco perfectísimamente el Idioma de mi Querida Llingua Asturiana, con el cual yo cuento a mis gentes astures cosas sencillas y naturales, de la misma manera que las he aprendido de boca de maestros analfabetos como mi querido amo Salustiano, el mejor vaqueiru que yo he conocido, el natural y sencillo filósofo que a mí sin libros, más me ha enseñado. Mi amo Salustiano, siempre se sintió muy orgulloso y ufano de sus vacas, a las que el y yo, cuidábamos en todo momento con verdadero celo y alegría, sin lugar a dudas, eran nuestras vacas las mejores de todo Asturias, y así lo reconocían todos los vaqueirus que medianamente entendían de ganado. Daba verdadero placer y envidia, mirar aquellas vacas gordas y lustrosas, todas ellas de la más pura raza asturiana. La corte (cuadra) de Salustiano estaba axeíta un poco allonxá (alejada) de la aldea, en la cimeirá (lo alto) de un praiquín (prado pequeño) que tenía m'apoxentáu (allanado), al lláu d'una fontona (al lado de una fuente) que tenía buenas aguas para abrevar el ganado. Yera una corte grandie, conun payarón que faía un par d'uce es de corcecáus de yerba. (Era una cuadra grande, con un pajar que hacía un par de docenas de rastros de hierba), y la cuadra era amplia y bien ventilada, óu s'arretrigaben nes fortes pexebréires (dónde se amarraban en las fuertes pesebreras), las diez soberbias vacas que en la sazón tenía mi amo Salustiano. Pero una noche fatídica nus fondeiráus de Ia xeronda (en los últimos días del otoño), d'aquién n'aquétcha nuétche del diañu, llantói fuéu 'l pachar, morriendu amagostáes toes les llozanes vaques del guenu de Xallustianu. (Alguien en aquella noche de los demonios, le prendió fuego al pajar, muriéndose asadas todas las lozanas vacas del bueno de Salustiano). Y aunque las autoridades del concejo hicieron todas las investigaciones precisas, nadie pudo descubrir jamás el autor o autores de tan monstruosa felonía. Algunos decían, que había sido un mal querer. Otros afirmaban que tal vez fuese un probe de lus munchus qu’apedigueñaben pe les aldés nus famientus tempus d'endenantes (un pobre de los muchos que pedían por las aldeas en los hambrientos tiempos de antes). Lo ciertamente sucedido fue, que desde aquel trágico día, el alegre y dicharachero vaqueiru Salustiano, ya no cantó más, ni rió jamás, pues poco a poco una profunda tristeza le fue consumiendo, y meses más tarde se moría de pena, por estar pensando sin interrupción en el gran sufrimiento e inenarrable dolor sufrido por sus queridas vacas, dentro de aquel enorme incendio, que poco a poco las carbonizó, sin que nadie pudiese hacer por ellas nada. Así de humano, sencillo y natural, era mi amo Salustiano, el grande hombre, el excepcional pensador y filósofo analfabeto, el mejor vaqueiru de toda mi Tierrina, ya que muy posible fuese el único que en todo el Universo, que por el amor de sus vacas muertas en tan avernoso sufrimiento, que hizo crecer en só'anxelical ya melgueiru (su angelical y dulce) pensamiento una pena tan amamplenada (grande, enorme) que fasta'l mesmu fuexu del sou morrer tal atristeyáu l'afaluchóu. Andecha, para empezar diré, que cualquier cuadrilla es sin lugar a dudas una andecha. En la Enciclopedia Asturiana, obra plagada de fatales e imperdonables equivocaciones, en lo que se refiere, digo yo, porque es lo mío, a la Llingüa y demás costumbres ancestrales de mi Tierrina. Estos intrusos infantilizados y ridículos, hambrientos de las resonancias y del pretender aparentar, «lográndolo», por el apoyo de otros intrusos que ya lograron alcanzar los puestos de más relevante poder, que yo no dudo que sean personas inteligentísimas en otras materias, que no sean los fidalgos ancestros de mi querida Asturias, porque yo entiendo, que para estar documentado en una cosa (sea cual fuere), sin lugar a dudas antes hay que íntimamente vivirla. (Ya nun conel banduétchu abazcuchandu de fartu, les manes ñidies. apaxiétchau con bunus fatus y'adeprendiendu les lletres en bunus collexus. Digo que en la Enciclopedia Asturiana, esos intrusos profesores de la «troya», dicen que l'andecha es una ayuda que se presta gratuitamente, y yo en este humilde libro, les digo rotunda y llanamente que «mienten más que se forian, si es que por no foriáxe no comen. L'andecha no es un trabajo gratuito, yo he trabajado en muchas andechas, tanto segando la hierba, comu coyendu 'l pan (recogiendo las espigas), axin comu faer borronáes (así como hacer de un prado o zarzal tierra labrantía), comu 'pelucar nus carrapiétchus nus ablanus (arrancar de los avellanos sus frutos), en fin, todas las faenas del campo, que por regla general se hacían en andechas y se pagaba un sueldo por tal trabajo. No hay que confundir la andecha con la gavita (ayuda). Porque la «Gavita», sí que en verdad es un trabajo que se hace con ayuda desinteresada en principio, pero que ha de ser pagada en igual o parecida forma, a no ser que a quienes se les brinde esta ayuda, se encuentren incapacitados para devolver la «Gavita». Antes, más de la mitad de las gentes de mis aldeas, como sus labranzas eran pequeñas y a veces hasta muy pobres, tenían que andar a xornalinus (jornales), para aquellos que pudiesen pagarles, bien fuese en dineros o en frutos de la tierra, así por ejemplo, cuando había que segar un prado grande, pues su dueño llamaba a diez o doce segadores, a los cuales les pagaban el sueldo que rigiere, y en andecha segaban el prado. Así pues, creo que queda suficientemente aclarado que las andechas no son gratuitas, y que las gavitas son empréstamos, o pagaduras de favor, porque en las aldeas, por lo menos en mis tiempos, era tan sumamente dura la existencia que no había gratis nada más que el agua. —Nun gulgu más a l'andecha / de la teixá d'Anxelón, / pos más que paga bon xueldu / 'n fame ruculu you. Porque nadie iba de buena gana a trabajar, para un amo que no diese bien de comer aunque pagase un buen sueldo. Sabiendo todas estas cosas, por haberlas vivido muchos años, yo me sonrío con pena muchas veces, de las infantileces descabelladas que escriben y hablan por televisión y radio, muchos intrusos en la Llingüa y ancestrales costumbres de mi Tierrina, que no saben de mis gentes ni de mis aldeas nada, porque sólo han estado en ellas como quien dice de mera visita, y sin embargo se atreven a cambiar y equivocar las ancestrales costumbres, namái qu'espiétchan el bocairun dou s’axiringa sou llingüa (nada más que abren la boca donde se mueve su lengua). TRADUCCIÓN.—En las noches de las primaveras y de los veranos, el culebrón hace unos cánticos, que yo y todos cuantos nos hemos criado en las aldeas hemos oído muchísimas veces, entonces las culebras que están en el celo, cuando sienten tal cántico, se van acercando silenciosamente hasta el lugar donde se encuentra el Culebrón, y cuando están en tal sitio, si son más de media docena, se pelean entre sí con enloquecida fiereza, porque por el instinto de vida ellas saben, que el culebrón no podrá hacer el amor nada más que de seis para abajo, una vez que ya han quedado las seis culebras que se ganaron el puesto de apadrentarse con el culebrón, éstas tendrán que trabajar para él, quiero decir, que le tienen que alimentar, mientras que buscan un lugar para apadrentarse, que este tiempo nunca suele ser mas largo de dos o tres días. Luego las culebras dirigen al culebrón hasta la yacija que antes hubiesen elegido, y en tal lugar, nada más que el sol estuviese en el sitio de más calentamiento, se enroscaban todas las culebras al culebrón, haciendo un trenzamiento que se movía sobre sí mismo revolcándose entre las babas y segregaciones pegajosas de sus cuerpos, y todo este verdoso espumaraje de babas y demás segregaciones, se escapaba de sus cuerpos por un pequeño agujero que para tal acaecer dejaban sin cerrar en el fuerte trenzado que hacían, así era que estas babas y demás pastosos y brillantes líquidos, al caer al suelo por debajo de las culebras entre el polvo y el arenisco, en el mismo suceder que las culebras con grande frenesí se enroscaban apretándose con desmedida fuerza haciéndose el amor, por así nombrarlo, siempre en el mismo lugar, y cuando ya habían satisfecho su apetencia, se marchaban de aquel trenzamiento donde se habían apadrentado, cada una de ellas para el lugar que mejor le conviniese. Esta piedrecita misteriosa se le llamaba la "Cuéllebre", el verdadero, o mejor dicho uno de los verdaderos dioses mitológicos de mi amada Asturias, no como ese otro cuéllebre que inventó no se quién, que como tantos otros que se dedicaron y se dedican a lo mismo, que están haciendo de las Costumbres y de todo el Ancestro Cultural de mi Dulce y Embrujadora Tierrina, desde hace ya muchos años, todo un trenzamiento de mal hechas mentiras y equívocos de niños subnormales, que sólo han logrado que nuestra hermosa Cultural no medre, para alcanzar el lugar prominente que por historia y valía le corresponde. —Yo he visto el Cuéllebre una vez en las manos de un afamado curandero, que era un hombre muy pequeño y viejo, alegre y muy hablador, muy amigo de la Bruja Genoveva y de mi amo Rosendo.
