98 adjective
n имя прилагательное (1). Когда существительное определяется несколькими прилагательными, они в большинстве случаев располагаются в следующем порядке: прилагательное оценки (суждения), размера, возраста, формы, цвета, национальности и материала, например:nice round blue ball;
a nice big and beautiful old garden;
long, curly, red hair;
her dirty old fur coat;
an old square wooden house;
an old long Scottish sward.
Прилагательные в сравнительной и превосходной степени стоят перед всеми остальными прилагательными:some of the best English actors;
the highest monthly figures;
the most famous English actor.
nothing new,
someone familiar,
everything important.
The best place in the world — Самое лучшее в мире место.
The longest film I have ever seen —
It is an easy question to answer — На этот вопрос нетрудно ответить.
Не was the first/last man to come — Он пришел первым/последним.
Не is the last person to ask for help — Он человек, к которому за помощью следует обращаться в последнюю очередь.
(4). В словосочетаниях с прилагательными меры, такими, как deep, high, long, wide, которые определяют количественные существительные, эти прилагательные стоят после определяемых существительных:five miles long — длиной в пять миль/пять миль в длину;
two meteres deep — глубиной в два метра;
an inch high — высотой в дюйм;
(5). Ряд прилагательных может занимать позицию как до, так и после определяемого существительного:а) прилагательные available, required, suggested, affected:the number of available newspapers или the number of newspapers available,
to have the required money или to have the money required;
б) прилагательные possible, impossible, necessary, vacant, free, open, imaginable, если они определяют существительное, которому предшествуют слова every, any, only, first, last, или другое прилагательное в превосходной степени:the best (only) way possible или the best (only) possible way;
every (any) position vacant или every (any) vacant position;
the shortest way imaginable или the shortest imaginable way.
При наличии двух прилагательных прилагательное в превосходной степени следует ставить перед существительным, а второе — предпочтительнее после него:The best method possible;
There was a concerned look in his eyes — У него было озабоченное выражение глаз.
All the people concerned —
She wouldn't be wrong to say so — Так вполне можно сказать.
К таким прилагательным относятся: able, afraid, difficult, anxious, ashamed, easy, eager, foolish, clever, happy, pleased, right, wrong и др. (7). Есть группа прилагательных, которые употребляются только предикативно, т. е. не могут занимать положения перед существительным. К ним относятся: afraid, alike, alive, ashamed, asleep, glad, fond, ill, near, well. В атрибутивной функции, т. е. перед существительным, вместо них употребляются другие прилагательные в сходном значении. Таковы пары afraid и frightened:The child was afraid of the dog — Ребенок испугался собаки, но The child had a frightened look — У ребенка был испуганный вид;
alike и similar:The two girls are very much alike — Обе девочки очень похожи друг на друга, но The girls were wearing similar dresses — Девочки были в похожих платьях;
alive и living; ill и sick; near и near-by. (8). The film is worth seeing — Этот фильм стоит посмотреть.
She is busy cooking dinner —

Прилагательные в сравнительной и превосходной степени стоят перед всеми остальными прилагательными: some of the best English actors; the highest monthly figures; the most famous English actor. (2.) Прилагательные, относящиеся к местоименным существительным something, anything, nothing, somebody, anybody, nobody, everybody, someone, anyone, everyone, в отличие от общего правила, стоят не перед существительными, а после этих существительных: something black, nothing new, someone familiar, everything important. (3.) Если прилагательное имеет объяснительные слова, то только это прилагательное стоит перед определяемым существительным, а поясняющие его слова стоят после этого существительного: the best place in the world самое лучшее в мире место; the longest film I have ever seen самый длинный фильм, который я когда-либо видел. В качестве таких поясняющих слов часто выступают инфинитивы: it is an easy question to answer на этот вопрос нетрудно ответить; he was the first/last man to come он пришел первым/последним; he is the last person to be asked for help он человек, к которому за помощью следует обращаться в последнюю очередь. (4.) В словосочетаниях с прилагательными меры, такими, как deep, high, long, wide, которые определяют количественные существительные, эти прилагательные стоят после определяемых существительных: five miles long длиной в пять миль/пять миль в длину; two meters deep глубиной в два метра; an inch high высотой в дюйм; six foot/feet deep глубиной в шесть футов. (5.) прилагательные available, required, suggested, affected: the number of available newspapers или the number of newspapers available, to have the required money или to have the money required; (б) прилагательные possible, impossible, necessary, vacant, free, open, imaginable, если они определяют существительное, которому предшествуют слова every, any, only, first, last, или другое прилагательное в превосходной степени: the best (only) way possible или the best (only) possible way; every (any) position vacant или every (any) vacant position; the shortest way imaginable или the shortest imaginable way; (в) при наличии двух прилагательных прилагательное в превосходной степени следует ставить перед существительным, а второе - предпочтительнее после него: the best method possible; (г) прилагательные concerned, involved, responsible, proper, present имеют разные значения в зависимости от того, стоят ли они перед или после определяемого существительного: there was a concerned look in his eyes у него было озабоченное выражение глаз; all the people concerned все, кого это касалось. (6.) Ряд прилагательных употребляются в конструкции с последующим инфинитивом в функции определения: it wouldn't be wrong to say so так вполне можно сказать. К таким прилагательным относятся: able, afraid, difficult, anxious, ashamed, easy, eager, foolish, clever, happy, pleased, right, wrong и др. (7.) К ним относятся: afraid, alike, alive, ashamed, asleep, glad, fond, ill, near, well. Таковы пары: afraid и frightened: the child was afraid of the dog ребенок боялся собаки, но child had a frightened look у ребенка был испуганный вид; alike и similar: the two girls are very much alike обе девочки очень похожи друг на друга, но the girls were wearing similar dresses девочки были в похожих платьях; alive и living; ill и sick; near и near-by.
