Note that δέαλος could well have been used in this place. "the presence of τε after σῆμα obliges to see δέελον as a substantive." Hesychius gives the right form. It is derived from δέω `bind', with the suffix - ελο-, i.e. * deh₁-elo-. It could have meant (French) `lien'. (He also gives another possibility, which seems less probable to me.)
