(1713-1784) Серра, ХунипероФранцисканский миссионер, прозванный Калифорнийским апостолом ["Apostle of California"]; вошел в историю как основатель католических миссий в Калифорнии. Долгое время активно занимался миссионерской деятельностью среди индейцев Мексики. В 1769 сопровождал военную экспедицию испанцев по Калифорнии, где создавались испанские форпосты, призванные воспрепятствовать проникновению русских в этот район.
