Mas bien se accepta que ambos de estos peinados representan el 'tzotzocolli' solamente que el del cabello colgado por el lado derecho representala forma diaria no oficial, de usarlo, mientras que cepillado hacia arriba y en forma mas alta por el lado derecho era el arregio para ocasiones oficiales. Técanicamente el largo del cabello permitiria una transformacion de un peinado en otro. V.Piho CIA 1972.275.Debe tomarse en cuenta la descripcion de Sahagun sobre el arreglo de los guerreros del 'telpochcalli' que iban por las noches a bailar a la casa de canto o 'cucacalli'. Después de haberse puesto las insignias guerreras se dice que 'en lugar de peinarse escarrapuzabanse los cabellos hacia arriba por parecer espantables' (Sah Garibay 292). Tambien el Conquistador Anonimo asienta que por lo regular los mexicanos se dejaban los cabellos largos y nollevaban 'cosa alguna sino cuando iban a la guerra o en sus fiestas y bailes'. (El Conquistador Anonimo 1941,27). El cambio de un cabello colgado que es levantado y anudado solamente para ocasiones de guerra se encuentra también en una mencion de Lopez de Gomara 1826 I 146.
