13 EXCHANGE RATE EXPOSURE
Валютный риск
Опасность потенциальных потерь при проведении внешнеторговых операций в результате колебаний валютных курсов. Компания может подвергаться коммерческому риску, который связан с ее внешнеторговой деятельностью, кредитными операциями или зарубежными инвестициями. Например, если компания экспортирует товар, оплата которого осуществляется покупателем в национальной валюте, и предоставляет ему кредит на срок в 60 дней, она принимает на себя валютный риск на срок действия кредита. Если вдруг курс иностранной валюты резко упадет по отношению к местной валюте, валютные потери продавца могут полностью поглотить любую ожидаемую прибыль от сделки. Компания также может подвергаться экономическому риску, который связан с влиянием колебаний валютных курсов на будущие денежные потоки, образующиеся в результате производствен- ной деятельности компании и ее торговых операций. Длительные или резкие колебания валютных курсов могут заставить компанию пересмотреть свою внешнеторговую стратегию и искать альтернативные источники сырья. Например, компания, выступающая на внешнем рынке в качестве прямого экспортера, может принять решение организовать производство на территории страны-импортера, если ревальвация снижает конкурентоспособность ее экспортных цен. Существует ряд способов, при помощи которых компания может снизить опасность потерь, вызванных изменениями валютного курса. Во-первых, компания может использовать внутренние ры чаги управления рисками, такие как «увязка» валют, т.е. уравновешивание валютных запасов и валютных заимствований (currency matching), ускорение или отсрочка платежей при предполагаемых изменениях курсов (leading and lagging), взаимный зачет валютных поступлений и платежей между дочерними отделениями транснациональной компании (netting).
