11 a mutual admiration society
And what would literature and art be without such associations? Who can tell what we owe to the Mutual Admiration Society of which Shakespeare, and Ben Jonson and Beaumont, and Fletcher were members? (O. W. Holmes, ‘The Autocrat of the Breakfast-Table’, ‘Every Man His Own Boswell’) — И что было бы с литературой и искусством без таких содружеств?
Maittand and our housekeeper, Miss Indre, are a very close little mutual admiration society. They're not particularly enamoured of me... But it's all the more reason for us to support each other. (A. J. Cronin, ‘Shannon's Way’, book IV, ch. 2) — Мейтленд и наша сестра-экономка мисс Индр образовали небольшое, но тесное содружество, основанное на взаимном восхвалении.

12 according to all accounts
(according to all accounts (тж. by all accounts))по общему мнению, по общим отзывам, как все считают‘Ah!’ cried another voice, that of the youngest hand on board, and evidently full of admiration, ‘He was the flower of the flock, was Flint!’ ‘Davis, was a man, too, by all accounts.’ (R. L. Stevenson, ‘Treasure Island’, ch.
Chasuble: "...He is not one of those whose sole aim is enjoyment, as, by all accounts, that unfortunate young man, his brother, seems to be." (O. Wilde, ‘The Importance of Being Earnest’, act 2) — Чезюбл: "...
‘He's a good enough lad, by all accounts,’ said Gorman reflectively. (E. O'Connor, ‘The Last Hurrah’, part II, ch. VI) — -

3 frml (sentir agrado o afición) gustar de, to enjoy: gusta de salir a pasear por las mañanas, he likes to have a walk in the morning
II vtr (degustar, probar) to taste
Gustar se traduce por to like: Me gusta esta música. I like this music.
I like to go to the dentist twice a year. Sería muy difícil que alguien dijera I like going to the dentist, porque significaría que disfruta haciéndolo.
En el modo condicional ( I would like) sólo se puede usar el infinitivo: I would like to go out tonight. Me gustaría salir esta noche.

п. СЫР-БОР ЗАГОРЕЛСЯ (ГОРИТ) (ВЕСЬ) СЫР-БОР (ЗАГОРЕЛСЯ) из-за кого-чего, от кого-чего all coll VP (why has, it is unclear why etc) some event, commotion, trouble etc occurred: (that's) what (who) sparked the whole thing (that's) what set the fur flying (thatis) what set the whole thing off (that's (person X Is)) the cause of all the trouble (that's) what touched off the whole ruckus (thatfc) what all the commotion was about (that's (person X Is)) the reason for the whole upheaval(that's what caused (hence etc)) all the fuss. "'But you threatened him (the major) with a pistol / he says. 'You realize what he can make this sound like.' And well say he's lying,' I answer. 4W11 say he wanted to stay with the women himself and that's what sparked the whole thing'" (5a). Only later, much later, did Mikhail tell her what had set the fur flying (1a). (Аксёнов 6)....And those other ones, who are the cause of all the latest trouble, can emigrate to Palestine without hindrance in order to strengthen a hostile state... (6a). And besides, Mikhail added, returning to the subject which had touched off the whole ruckus, maybe it wasn't because of himself that Evsei Tikhonovich felt entitled to the pension, but because of his children (1a). Once again the Watergate affair comes to mind. Who among us, following its peripeteia on the foreign radio broadcasts, was not amazed? My heavens, what was all the commotion about? The President of the greatest country on earth wanted to eavesdrop on someone. That's all there was to it (3a). In their admiration for Helen of Troy people somehow leave out of account that she was the daughter of Zeus—hence all the fuss about who was to possess her (3a)...."Сыр" is the old short-form adjective, used instead of the contemporary long-form adjective «сырой».
