1 compulsory dance (CD)

compulsory dance (CD)
Until 2010-2011 season, ice dancing comprised three performances: a compulsory dance, an original dance and a free skate dance. In a compulsory dance the performance closely followed a prescribed set of steps staged to a piece of music with a particular character and musical rhythm. At present, ice dancing competitions, like those of other forms of figure skating, consist of two programs: the short dance and the free dance.

2 ice dance

ice dance
Skating event in which two skaters perform a choreographed dance. Ice dance is the only event that allows the use of music with vocals. Dancers adhere closely to the rhythm of the music and express the character of the music with appropriate emotion and feeling.

compulsory dance (CD)
Until 2010-2011 season, ice dancing comprised three performances: a compulsory dance, an original dance and a free skate dance. In a compulsory dance the performance closely followed a prescribed set of steps staged to a piece of music with a particular character and musical rhythm. At present, ice dancing competitions, like those of other forms of figure skating, consist of two programs: the short dance and the free dance.
