TRADUCCIÓN.—En los tiempos pasados eran muy nombrados los Santos y las Santinas de todas mis queridas aldeas, recuerdo que cuando yo era un niño, en los años siguientes de terminada la sangrienta y asesinante guerra civil, que dejó mi Dulce Asturias casi exterminada de todos sus hijos más queridos, como eran en particular las sanas juventudes de los Rojos, pues jamás ni nadie puede olvidar, que en todos los hogares de Asturias había por lo menos un hombre que había muerto como un valiente luchando en el frente, defendiendo la Libertad y la Justicia de que gozaba la República, como también había otro hombre, que por regla general era el padre del primero, que fue asesinado vilmente en las cárceles, o había otro hombre prisionero en los llamados "Campos de Concentración" o Batallones de trabajadores, cuento yo que en aquellos tenebrosos tiempos de demonios coronados por la miseria y el sufrimiento, donde la muerte se hartaba todos los días con las vidas de incontables inocentes, que dejaron a mi Tierrina sin sus mejores hijos, por esto las costumbres y las tradiciones que desde siempre tenían amorosamente unido al Pueblu Astur, así como su dulce y encantadora lengua, se fueron olvidando casi del todo en todos los hogares, porque estaba hasta castigado hablar el asturiano, por otro lado se decía que era de ignorantes y de personas mal educadas hablar el asturiano, esto lo decían todas las gentes que mandaban algo, que eran sin poner ni la más pequeña duda todos de las derechas, que de continuo nos estaban reprendiendo y casi con amenazas ofensivas prohibiendo que hablásemos nuestro “Ancestral Idioma”.
