28 -to signal, to report o to notify?-
English-Italian dictionary > -to signal, to report o to notify?-
-
29 -to tell o to say?-
Nota d'usoPer introdurre un discorso indiretto, si possono utilizzare i verbi “to tell” e “to say”, che significano entrambi dire. Tuttavia “to tell” richiede sempre un oggetto, cioè occorre indicare a chi è stato detto qualcosa: Mi disse che era malata, she told me she was ill (non she told she was ill). Quando non si vuole o non è necessario specificare l'oggetto, si usa “to say”: Disse che era malata, she said she was ill. Anche “to say” può avere un oggetto, ma la costruzione è “to say”+“to”+oggetto: Devi dire queste cose ai tuoi genitori!, you have to say these things to your parents! -
