Мессершмитт Вили (1898-1978), один из выдающихся авиаконструкторов ХХ в., промышленник. Создатель самолётов, вертолётов, планёров различного назначения. В 1923 г. основал авиационный завод в Бамберге, в 1926 г. создал первый цельнометаллический самолёт. Его истребитель Ме-109 – основной истребитель ВВС Германии – впервые поднялся в воздух в 1935 г., впоследствии многократно дорабатывался и модернизировался, во время Второй мировой войны успешно конкурировал с лучшими истребителями союзников. Мессершмитт создал самолёт многоцелевого назначения Ме-110 и один из первых реактивных истребителей Ме-262. После войны эмигрировал в Испанию, где консультировал проекты ряда самолётов, а также занимался производством сборных домов.
