"Тихая ночь, святая ночь"всемирно известная рождественская песня. Написана в 1818 священником Й. Мором и учителем-органистом Ф. К. Грубером в деревне Оберндорф под Зальцбургом. Поводом для написания песни послужила поломка органа в местной церкви накануне Рождества и невозможность из-за этого служить праздничную мессу. Первый раз песня исполнялась под гитару. Мастер, которого пригласили из Тироля починить орган, привёз песню на родину, где её подхватили модные тогда по всей Европе тирольские певцы. Несмотря на критику песни со стороны некоторых теологов, миссионеры способствовали распространению её во всех странах мира.
