21 half
I n (pl halves) половина, половинка (1). Числительные, оканчивающиеся на слово half, употребляются с существительным во множественном числе: one and a half miles, two and a half pounds of apples, there were two and a half pounds of sugar in the bag. Русским словосочетаниям вдвое меньше (времени, студентов) соответствуют: half as much (time), half as many (students). (2). Русское вдвое меньше передается английской конструкцией half the + существительное:half the distance (the time, the money, the number, the size, etc.) д.).
Английские сочетания half the price ( half the height или half as high, half the length или half as long etc.) д.). (3). Русское половина чего-либо может передаваться беспредложным сочетанием half + существительное или сочетанием half of + существительное:half his life или half of his life,
half his drink или half of his drink.
Перед местоимениями употребляется только предложное сочетание half of it (them).
half an hour.
The glass was half full —
It was not half bad —
