Ricordare e ricordarsi si traducono in inglese con to remember, quando significano tenere a mente o farsi venire in mente qualcosa, mentre ricordare qualcosa a qualcuno si traduce con to remind somebody of something. Va notato anche il diverso significato indicato dalla reggenza grammaticale di to remember: to remember + gerundio traduce ricordare/-rsi di avere fatto qualcosa ( mi ricordo di averlo scritto da qualche parte = I remember writing it somewhere), mentre to remember + to + infinito rende ricordare /-rsi di fare qualcosa ( devo ricordarmi di ringraziarla = I must remember to thank her).
