•USAGE:(1.) Конструкция used to do smth обозначает неоднократно повторявшееся действие или состояние в отдаленном прошлом, которое к настоящему моменту прекратилось. Она чаще всего употребляется в утвердительных предложениях: He used to play foot-ball when he was a boy. Он когда-то играл в футбол, когда был мальчиком (а сейчас не играет). He used to drive a car. Он, бывало, водил машину (а сейчас не водит). Вопросительные и отрицательные предложения с оборотом used to do smth образуются как со вспомогательным глаголом do, так и без него: Did you use to play football? или Used you to play football?; I did not use to go to the theatre или I used not to go to the theatre.
