1 Hand
Hand, I) eig. u. bildl.: manus (ebenso allgemein wie das deutsche Wort, in eig. u. bildl. Bed., z.B. Hand, d.i. Macht, in der etw. steht, Hand, d.i. Handschrift, die jmd. schreibt usw.). – die rechte H., (manus) dextra: die linke H., (manus) sinistra od. laeva.

Also A) mit »Hand« im bl. Nominat. oder Akkusat.: er ist seine rechte H., ille est eius dextella. – jmdm. die Hand bieten, reichen, geben, alci manum od. dextram offerre (im allg., die Hand od. die Rechte darbieten); alci manum porrigere (im allg., die Hand entgegenstrecken, auch als Helfer, z.B. collapso: u. bildl, z.B. natura manum porrigit); alci dextram porrigere (jmdm. die Rechte reichen, bes. beim Gruß u. bei Versprechungen); dextram iungere cum alqo (den Handschlag geben. mit jmd. einschlagen, als Gruß; dah. einander [1206] die Hand geben, dextras iungere; dextrae dextram iungere); manus alci dare (jmdm. die Hände geben, um ihn beim Gehen zu unterstützen); manu alqm allevare (jmd., der gefallen etc. ist, mit der Hand aufheben); dextram alci tendere (jmdm. die Rechte ausstrecken und reichen, um ihm zu helfen; auch bildl. = jmdm. Anordnungen zu etwas treffen; auch absol., wie unser »Hand anlegen« = »das Werk betreiben«): die letzte H. an etw. legen, extremam od. summam manum imponere alci rei od. in alqa re: die letzte H. wird an ein Werk gelegt, manus extrema accedit operi: H. an jmd. legen, alci manus afferre od. inferre od. inicere, alci vim afferre alci vim et manus inicere (jmdm. B) »Hand« abhängig von Präpositionen, u. zwar: a) mit an: an der H. der Natur, naturā duce. – jmd. an der H. führen, herumführen, alqm manu ducere: ich führe jmd.
[1207] an der H. hin, alqm manu tenens perduco: jmdm. an die H. gehen, alqm operā suā iuvare od. adiuvare: mit Rat, mit Rat u. Tat, s. Rat no. II: jmdm. etwas an die H. geben (uneig.), subicere alci alqd (eingeben, auch v. Lebl., z.B. v. der Natur); suadere alci alqd (raten, z.B. elige id, quod res ipsa [die Umstände] suaserit); praebere alci alqd (darbieten, z.B. res mihi duplicem defensionem praebet): was die Gesetze an die H. geben, quae legibus comparata sunt.
b) mit auf: die Sache liegt auf der H., in medio posita est res; res ante pedes est; res in promptu est: das liegt klar auf der Hand, daß etc., hoc in promptu manifestumque est mit folg. Akk. u. Infin. – auf seine H., auf eigene H., suis od. propriis viribus (mit eigener Kraft, z.B. alqd exsequi); propriis viribus consiliisque (mit eigenen Kräften u. nach eigenem Ermessen, z.B. bellum gerere); suo od. privato consilio (nach eigenem Ermessen, ineigenem Interesse); privato sumptu (auf eigene Kosten); suo Marte (auf eigenes Risiko [zunächst in bezug auf Kriegsangelegenheiten], z.B. bellum gerere); suo nomine (auf eigene Verantwortung, z.B. bellum alci indicere); suā sponte (ohne anderer Zutun u. c) mit aus: aus den Händen legen, de manibus ponere od. deponere; auch bl. ponere (z.B. librum): die Waffen aus den Händen legen (uneig.), ab armisrecedere: etwas, jmd. aus den Händen lassen, emittere e od. demanibus od. bl. manibus. dimittere de od. e manibus (auch = unbenutzt vorüberlassen, z.B. fortunam): aus der H. in die H., aus einer H. in die andere, de manu in manum; e manibus in manus; per manus (von Hand zu Hand): aus freier H., solā manu (eig.); suā sponte (uneig., aus freien Stücken): aus freier H. verkauft werden, libere venire.
d) mit bei: bei der H. sein (in der Nähe sein), sub manibus esse (v. Pers.); ad manum od. prae manibus esse (von Dingen); ad manum oder prae manu esse (vorrätig sein, z.B. vom Gelde); promptum esse (gleich bereit sein, z.B. ad vim, v. e) mit durch: viel durch die Hände gehen, multum in manibus esse (z.B. von einem Buche = viel gelesen werden): ein Geschenk geht durch viele Hände, unum munus multorum manibus teritur. – durch die dritte H. (Person), per alium.
f) mit in: H. in H., implexis od. consertis manibus (mit verschlungenen oder ineinandergelegten Händen); manibus invicem apprehensis (einander angefaßt); amplexi od. complexi inter se, im Zshg. auch bl. amplexi od. complexi (einander umfaßt. g) mit mit: mit einer Hand, s. einhändig. – mit eigener H., s. eigenhändig. – mit Händen und Füßen, pugnis et calcibus (eig., z.B. jmd. übel zurichten, alqm conscindere); manibus pedibusque (uneig., aus allen Kräften, mit Leibeskräften, z.B. entgegenarbeiten, obnixe facere): halte dein Glück mit beiden Händen fest, fortunam tuam pressis manibus tene. – mit vollen Händen, plenā manu (z.B. geben, dare); large effuseque (mit freigebiger u. verschwenderischer H., z.B. donare [1209] alci non pauca): mit leeren Händen, vacuis manibus (z.B. abire); inanis (leer, z.B. redeo): mit leeren Händen nach Hause kommen, vacuas reportare manus. – es läßt sich mit Händen greifen, s. handgreiflich.
h) mit unter: ich habe etw. (eine Schrift etc.) unter den Händen (d.i. ich arbeite an etwas), habeo alqd in manibus od. inter manus; mihi alqd in manibus est: sozusagen unter den Händen (d.i. sehr schnell) entstehen, wachsen, sub manu, ut aiunt, nasci: unter den Händen jmds. sterben, inter manus alcis exspirare (übh.); inter manus sublevantis exstingui (jmds., der mir den Kopf stützt); in alcis complexu emori (in jmds. Armen): unter der H., s. gelegentlich: etwas unter der H. (im Gespräche) erwähnen, mitteilen, s. »einfließen lassen« unter »einfließen«: unter die Hände kommen, in alcis manus venire.
i) mit von: von H. zu H., per manus (z.B. geben, fortpflanzen, tradere. – ein Geschäft geht von der H., succedit ad manus negotium: von jmds. H. (gemacht, geschrieben, ausgearbeitet) sein, ab alcis manu profectum esse: von niedlicher H. k) mit vor: etwas vor die H. nehmen, alqd tractare (sich mit etwas beschäftigen u. dgl.): ein Geschoß, das mir gerade vor die Hände kommt, telum, quod mihi fors offert (z.B. arripio). – vor der H., s. vorderhand.
l) mit zu: zur H. sein, haben, s. oben no. d mit »bei«: zur H. nehmen, in manum sumere (z.B. librum): zur rechten, zur linken H., ad dextram; ad sinistram: zur rechten u. linken Hand, dextrā laevāque. – der Brief ist mir nicht zu Händen (zuhanden) gekommen, epistulam non accepi.
