11 οἰκονομία
οἰκονομία, ας, ἡ (οἰκονομέω; X., Pla.+; ins., pap; Is 22:19, 21; TestJob, ParJer, Philo, Joseph.)① responsibility of management, management of a household, direction, office (X., Oec. 1, 1; Herodian 6, 1, 1; Jos., Ant. 2, 89; PTebt 27, 21 [114 B.C.]; PLond III, 904, 25 p. 125 [104 A.D.]; Orig., C. Cels. 8, 57, 22).ⓐ lit., of the work of an οἰκονόμος ‘estate manager’ Lk 16:2–4 (this passage shows that it is not always poss. to draw a sharp distinction betw. the office itself and the activities associated w. it).—WPöhlmann, Der verlorene Sohn u. das Haus ’93.ⓑ Paul applies the idea of administration to the office of an apostle οἰκονομίαν πεπίστευμαι I have been entrusted with a commission/task 1 Cor 9:17 (cp. Theoph. Ant. 1, 11 [p. 82, 8]); ἀνθρωπίνων οἰκονομίαν μυστηρίων πεπίστευνται they have been entrusted with the administration of merely human mysteries Dg 7:1. Of a supervisor (bishop): ὸ̔ν πέμπει ὁ οἰκοδεσπότης εἰς ἰδίαν οἰκ. (οἰκ. ἰδίου οἴκου) the one whom the master of the house sent to administer his own household IEph 6:1. This is prob. also the place for κατὰ τὴν οἰκ. τοῦ θεοῦ τὴν δοθεῖσάν μοι εἰς ὑμᾶς according to the divine office which has been granted to me for you Col 1:25, as well as ἠκούσατε τὴν οἰκονομίαν τ. χάριτος τ. θεοῦ τῆς δοθείσης μοι εἰς ὑμᾶς you have heard of the administration of God’s grace that was granted to me for you Eph 3:2 (on the other hand, this latter vs. may be parallel to the usage in vs. 9; s. 2b below).② state of being arranged, arrangement, order, plan (X., Cyr. 5, 3, 25; Polyb. 4, 67, 9; 10, 16, 2; Diod S 1, 81, 3)ⓐ ἡ τῆς σαρκὸς οἰκονομία of the arrangement or structure of the parts of the body beneath the skin; they are laid bare by scourging MPol 2:2.—(Iren. 5, 3, 2 [Harv. II, 326, 3]).ⓑ of God’s unique plan private plan, plan of salvation, i.e. arrangements for redemption of humans (in the pap of arrangements and directions of authorities: UPZ 162 IX, 2 [117 B.C.]; CPR 11, 26, and in PGM [e.g. 4, 293] of the measures by which one wishes to attain some goal by extrahuman help.—Just., D. 31, 1 τοῦ πάθους … οἰκ.; Hippol., Did.) ἡ οἰκ. τοῦ μυστηρίου the plan of the mystery Eph 3:9 (v.l. κοινωνία; on the thought cp. vs. 2 and s. JReumann, NovT 3, ’59, 282–92.—Just., D. 134, 2 οἰκονομίαι … μυστηρίων). Also in the linguistically difficult passage 1:10 οἰκ. certainly refers to the plan of salvation which God is bringing to reality through Christ, in the fullness of the times. κατʼ οἰκονομίαν θεοῦ according to God’s plan of redemption IEph 18:2 (cp. Ath. 21, 4 κατὰ θείαν οἰκ.—Pl.: Iren. 1, 10, 1 [Harv. I 90, 8]) προσδηλώσω ὑμῖν ἧς ἠρξάμην οἰκονομίας εἰς τὸν καινὸν ἄνθρωπον Ἰησοῦν Χριστόν I will explain to you further the divine plan which I began (to discuss), with reference to the new human being Jesus Christ IEph 20:1. AcPl Ha 3, 23 of God’s marvelous plan = way of doing things; 6, 26 ο̣ἰ̣κο̣ν̣[ομίαν πληρῶσω κτλ.] (so that I might carry out God’s) plan for me; pl. 5, 27 [ὡς καὶ ἐκεῖ τὰς τοῦ κυρίου οἰκο]νομίας πληρῶσε (=πληρῶσαι) [Paul has gone off to carry out God’s] purpose [also there] (in Macedonia) (apparently a ref. to the various missionary assignments given by God to Paul; for the formulation cp. τὴν οἰκ. τελέσας Orig., C. Cels. 2, 65, 4).ⓒ also of God’s arrangements in nature pl. αἱ οἰκ. θεοῦ Dg 4:5 (cp. Tat. 12, 2; 18, 2 ὕλης οἰκ.; Did., Gen. 92, 6 πάντα ὑπὸ τὴν αὐτοῦ οἰκ. ἐστίν.—Of the order in creation Theoph. Ant. 2, 12 [p. 130, 2]).③ program of instruction, training (in the way of salvation); this mng. (found also Clem. Alex., Paed. 1, 8, 69, 3; 70, 1 p. 130 St.) seems to fit best in 1 Ti 1:4, where it is said of the erroneous teachings of certain persons ἐκζητήσεις παρέχουσιν μᾶλλον ἢ οἰκονομίαν θεοῦ τὴν ἐν πίστει they promote useless speculations rather than divine training that is in faith (οἰκοδομήν and οἰκοδομίαν [q.v.] as vv.ll. are simply ‘corrections’ to alleviate the difficulty). If οἰκ. is to be taken in the sense of 1b above, the thought of the verse would be somewhat as follows: ‘endless speculative inquiry merely brings about contention instead of the realization of God’s purpose which has to do with faith.’—OLillger, Das patristische Wort, diss. Erlangen ’55; JReumann, The Use of ΟΙΚΟΝΟΜΙΑ and Related Terms etc., diss. U. of Pennsylvania ’57.—DELG s.v. νέμω. M-M. EDNT. TW. Spicq. Sv. -

17 public broadcasting service
1) СМИ., гос. упр. общественное вещание (вещание некоммерческих СМИ на средства, собранные со слушателей и телезрителей)2) СМИ, гос. упр. = !"может быть, просто ""public broadcasting"", а не ""public broadcasting service""?"!"The Public Broadcasting Service ( PBS) is a non-profit public broadcasting television service with 354 member TV stations in the United States, with some member stations available over the air and by cable in Canada. While the term ""broadcasting"" encompasses both radio and television, PBS only covers TV; public radio in the United States is served by National Public Radio, as well as content providers American Public Media, and Public Radio International."PBS was founded on November 3, 1969,[1\] at which time it took over many of the functions of its predecessor, National Educational Television (NET) (which merged with station WNDT Newark, New Jersey to form WNET). It commenced broadcasting on Monday, October 5, 1970. In 1973, it merged with Educational Television Stations.PBS is a non-profit, private corporation which is owned collectively by its member stations.[2\] However, its operations are largely funded by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Its headquarters are in Arlington, Virginia.Unlike the commercial television broadcast model of American networks such as ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW and MyNetworkTV, in which affiliates give up portions of their local advertising airtime in exchange for network programming, PBS member stations pay substantial fees for the shows acquired and distributed by the national organization."This relationship means that PBS member stations have greater latitude in local scheduling than their commercial counterparts. Scheduling of PBS-distributed series may vary greatly from market to market. This can be a source of tension as stations seek to preserve their localism and PBS strives to market a consistent national line-up. However, PBS has a policy of ""common carriage"" requiring most stations to clear the national prime time programs on a common schedule, so that they can be more effectively marketed on a national basis. This setup is in many ways similar to the pre-2002 British ITV system of having some ""networked"" programs shown nationwide on all network contractors, and the remainder of scheduling being up to individual affiliates." "Unlike its radio counterpart, National Public Radio, PBS has no central program production arm or news department. All of the programming carried by PBS, whether news, documentary, or entertainment, is created by (or in most cases produced under contract with) other parties, such as individual member stations. WGBH in Boston is one of the largest producers of educational programming. News programs are produced by WETA-TV in Washington, D.C., WNET in New York and WPBT in Miami. The Charlie Rose interview show, Secrets of the Dead, NOW, Nature, Cyberchase, and The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer come from or through WNET in New York. Once a program is offered to and accepted by PBS for distribution, PBS (and not the member station that supplied the program) retains exclusive rights for rebroadcasts during the period for which such rights were granted; the suppliers do maintain the right to sell the program in non-broadcast media such as DVDs, books, and sometimes PBS licensed merchandise (but sometimes grant such ancillary rights as well to PBS)." "PBS stations are commonly operated by non-profit organizations, state agencies, local authorities (e.g., municipal boards of education), or universities in their community of license. In some states, PBS stations throughout the entire state may be organized into a single regional ""subnetwork"" (e.g., Alabama Public Television). Unlike Canada's CBC/SRC, PBS does not own any of the stations that broadcast its programming. This is partly due to the origins of the PBS stations themselves, and partly due to historical license issues."In the modern broadcast marketplace, this organizational structure is considered outmoded by some media critics. A common restructuring proposal is to reorganize the network so that each state would have one PBS affiliate which would broadcast state-wide. However, this proposal is controversial, as it would reduce local community input into PBS programming, especially considering how PBS stations are significantly more community-oriented, according to the argument, than their commercial counterparts.* * *Англо-русский экономический словарь > public broadcasting service

[He was the son of Kuntī begotten on her by the god Sun while she was yet a virgin residing at her father's house (see Kuntī). When the child was born, Kuntī, afraid of the censure of her relatives and also of public scandal, threw the boy into the river where he was found by Adhiratha, charioteer of Dhṛitrāṣṭra, and given over to his wife Rādhā, who brought him up like her own child; whence Karṇa is often called Sūtaputra, Rādheya &c. Karṇa, when grown up, was made king of Aṇga by Duryodhana, and became by virtue of his many generous acts a type of charity. On one occasion Indra (whose care it was to favour his son Arjuna) disguised himself as a Brāhmaṇa and cajoled him out of his divine armour and ear-rings, and gave him in return a charmed javelin. With a desire to make himself proficient in the science of war, he, calling himself a Brāhmaṇa went to Parasurāma and learnt that art from him. But his secret did not long remain concealed. On one occasion when Parasurāma had fallen asleep with his head resting on Karṇa's lap, a worm (supposed by some to be the form assumed by Indra himself to defeat Karṇa's object) began to eat into his lap and made a deep rent in it; but as Karṇa showed not the least sign of pain, his real character was discovered by his preceptor who cursed him that the art he had learnt would avail him not in times of need. On another occasion he was curse by a Brāhmaṇa (whose cow he had unwittingly slain in chase) that the earth would eat up the wheel of his chariot in the hour of trial. Even with such disadvan- tages as these, he acquitted himself most valiantly in the great war between the Paṇḍavas and Kauravas, while acting as generalissimo of the Kaurava forces after Bhīṣma and Droṇa had fallen. He maintained the field against the Paṇḍavas for three days, but on the last day he was slain by Arjuna while the wheel of his chariot had sunk down into the earth. Karṇa was the most intimate friend of Duryodhana, and with Śakuni joined him in all the various schemes and plots that were devised from time to time for the destruction of the Paṇ&dvas.]-Comp. -अञ्चलः (लम्) Ear-lobe; (Mātaṅga L.5.12.)-अञ्जलिः 1 The auditory passage of the outer ear.-2 The ears pricked up; आपीय कर्णाञ्जलिभिर्भवापहाम् Bhāg.3.13.5.-अनुजः Yudhiṣṭhira.-अन्तिक a. close to the ear; स्वनसि मृदु कर्णान्तिकचरः Ś.1.23.-अन्दुः, -न्दू f. an ornament for the ear, ear-ring.-अर्पणम् giving ear, listening.-आरा (= -वेधनी). -आस्फालः the flapping of the elephant's ears.-इन्दुः f. a semicircular ear-ring.-उत्तंसः an ear-ornament or merely an ornament (according to some authorities). 20 क
ka1) the first consonant of the alphabet, andᅠ the first guttural letter (corresponding in sound to k in keep orᅠ king)
ká
andᅠ cf. the following words in which the interrogative base ka appears,
katama, katara, kati, katham, kadā, karhi, kā, etc.),
who? which? what?
In its declension ka follows the pronoun tad except in nom. acc. sing. neut.,
where kim has taken the place of kad orᅠ kat in classical Sanskṛit;
but the old form kad is found in the Veda ( seeᅠ Gram. 227);
+ cf. Zd. ka, kô, kâ̱, kat;
Gk. πόθεν, πῶς, (Ion. κόθεν, κῶς,) τίς, τί;
Lat. quis, quid;
Lith. kas ká;
Goth. hvas, hvô, hva,
Angl. Sax. hwā, hwaet;
Eng. who, what
The interrogative sentence introduced by ka is often terminated by iti
(e.g.. kasyasaputraitikathyatām, let it be said, « whose son is he?»),
but iti may be omitted andᅠ the sentence lose its direct interrogative character
(e.g.. kasyasaputronajñāyate, it is not known whose son he is)
ka with orᅠ without 1. as may express « how is it possible that?», « what power have I, you, they, etc.?»
(e.g.. kemamadhanvino'nye, what can the other archers do against me?
keāvāmparitrātum, what power have we to rescue you?)
ka is often connected with a demonstrative pron.
(e.g.. ko'yamāyāti, who comes here?)
orᅠ with the potential (e.g.. kohariṉnindet, who will blame Hari?)
ka is sometimes repeated
(e.g.. kaḥko'tra, who is there?
kānkān, whom? whom? i.e. which of them? cf. Gram. 54),
andᅠ the repetition is often due to a kind of attraction
(e.g.. keshāṉkiṉṡāstramadhyayanīyam, which book is to be read by whom?
Gram. 836. a)
When kim is connected with the inst. c. of a noun orᅠ with the indecl. participle it may express « what is gained by doing so, etc.?»
(= ko'rthas);
(e.g.. kiṉvilambena, what is gained by delay?
kimbahunā, what is the use of more words?
dhanenakiṉyonadadāti, what is the use of wealth to him who does not give?
with inst. andᅠ gen.,
nīrujaḥkimaushadhaiḥ, what is the use of medicine to the healthy?)
ka is often followed by the particles iva, u, nāma, nu, vā, svid,
some of which serve merely to generalize the interrogation
(e.g.. kimivaetad, what can this be?
kauṡravat, who can possibly hear?
konāmajānāti, who indeed knows?
konvayam, who, pray, is this?
kiṉnukāryam, what is to be done?
kovādevādanyaḥ, who possibly other than a god?
kasyasvidhṛidayaṉnâ̱sti, of what person is there no heart?)
ka is occasionally used alone as an indefinite pronoun, especially in negative sentences
(e.g.. nakasyakovallabhaḥ, no one is a favourite of any one;
nâ̱nyojānātikaḥ, no one else knows;
kathaṉsaghātayatikam, how does he kill any one?)
Generally, however, ka is only made indefinite when connected with the particles ca, caná, cid, vā, andᅠ ápi, in which case ka may sometimes be preceded by the relative ya
(e.g.. yekeca, any persons whatsoever;
yasyaikasyaicadevatāyai, to any deity whatsoever;
yānikānicamitrāṇi, any friends whatsoever;
yatkiṉca, whatever)
The particle cana, being composed of ca andᅠ na, properly gives a negative force to the pronoun
(e.g.. yasmādindrādṛitekiṉcana, without which Indra there is nothing),
but the negative sense is generally dropped
(e.g.. kaṡcana, any one;
nakaṡcana, no one), andᅠ a relative is sometimes connected with it (e.g.. yatkiṉcana, anything whatsoever). Examples of cid with the interrogative are common;
vā andᅠ api are not so common, but the latter is often found in classical Sanskṛit (e.g.. kaṡcid, any one;
kecid, some;
nakaṡcid, no one;
nakiṉcidapi, nothing whatsoever;
yaḥkaṡcid, any one whatsoever;
kecit - kecit, some - others;
yasminkasminvādeṡe, in any country whatsoever;
nako'pi, no one;
nakimapi, nothing whatever). ka may sometimes be used, like 2. kad, at the beginning of a compound. seeᅠ ka-pūya, etc.
