Si de chiquito a Ud. le asentaron en su cabeza al mismo Obatalá, por que él así lo pidió, cuando Orunla reclama esa cabeza para que los asienten a él, Ud. tiene que ir a un Ilé de babalawó, donde lo preparan para entrar en la Orden de los Babalawós. Desde entonces Ud. no tiene que ver con las prohibiciones y obligaciones del orisha anterior. Cuando le asientan Orúnla, lo hacen sobre el santo anterior que Ud. lleva en la cabeza; lo que sucede es que Orúñla desplaza o borra al otro en su erí. Fíjese bien que Orúnla es muchacho de dieciséis años y sin embargo Obatalá lo obedece. Obatalá le dio poder a ese Orísha. Una vez había una guerra en un lugar a causa de las malas órdenes de un oba. La gente se mataban y le pasaron aviso a Obatalá de la destrucción de sus hijos. El viejo salió a buscar a un babalawó para registrarse en el ékuelé. Babalawó, Babalao: Sacerdote de Ifá. Individuo cuyo "eledda" es el orísha Orula, el que le asentaron en la cabeza, por lo que posee los secretos supremos en Regla de Ocha, pues Orula los recibió directamente de Olofi. La sabiduría de los babalawós la reciben de Orula que es el dios sabio por excelencia. En la categoría sacerdotal de babalawó solamente se admiten hombres de supremas condiciones de fe y moral. En esta categoría existen secretos y rituales desconocidos para los que no pertenecen a ella. Una santera vieja me dice que "muchos babalawós solamente tienen el santo lavado, pero no asentado", por lo que no pueden pasar al cuarto de asiento. El santero necesita del babalawó para sacar el "itá" de quien hace santo. Tres babalawó son necesarios en rigor ritual para "bajar Orula"; en casos muy especiales se han necesitado más, hasta doce. Menos de tres no pueden bajar a Orula. El babalawó, como el santero, tiene "Ilé Ocha", hijos y conducta ritual general muy semejante a la del santero.
