Оборудование пользователя WLAN может содержать объекты, чья конфигурация, эксплуатация и программное обеспечение не подпадают под контроль оператора системы 3GPP, например, ноутбук, компактный портативный компьютер («лэптоп»), карточка WLAN, считыватель смарт-карт и соответствующие программные приложения.
