Acaricotiar, es sacudir un tochu con fuéu (un palo prendido) o tizón, con miras de que arda con más fuerza y alumbre más. Recuerdo que en los difíciles años de la post-guerra, cuando en mi aldea no había ni luz, ni paz, ni pan, ni trabajo, cuando todos rumiábamos cada cual como mejor podía, las desgracias que la guerra como inagotable triste herencia nos había dejado, pues en tous lus chares (todos los hogares) por lo menos había morríu 'n home, bien nel frenti ou chuquináu. Por lo tanto toda la aldea estaba endiablada, aviñoná (llena) de profundos odios, de rencores y de venganzas, entre roxus ya prietus (rojos y pardos), quiero decir entre las familias de entrambos, porque rojos en mi aldea no quedó ni uno, ya que los que no murieron en la trinchera, los pardos los asesinaron. Como hicieron con mi padre y con tantos otros buenos hombres que xamás sou mán pa faer mal a naide achebantarun. (Que jamás su mano para hacer mal a nadie levantaron). Digo yo, que cuando yera 'n guaxiquín (era un chiquillo) díbamus miou má ya you (íbamos mi madre y yo) a pasar las veladas por las nuétches (noches) a la teixá (casa) de Nicomedes, donde este simpático y buen hombre nos contaba infinidad de alegres cuentos de su bien repleto repertorio, que ayudaba a todos a mitigar las penas. TRADUCCIÓN.—En las noches de las primaveras y de los veranos, el culebrón hace unos cánticos, que yo y todos cuantos nos hemos criado en las aldeas hemos oído muchísimas veces, entonces las culebras que están en el celo, cuando sienten tal cántico, se van acercando silenciosamente hasta el lugar donde se encuentra el Culebrón, y cuando están en tal sitio, si son más de media docena, se pelean entre sí con enloquecida fiereza, porque por el instinto de vida ellas saben, que el culebrón no podrá hacer el amor nada más que de seis para abajo, una vez que ya han quedado las seis culebras que se ganaron el puesto de apadrentarse con el culebrón, éstas tendrán que trabajar para él, quiero decir, que le tienen que alimentar, mientras que buscan un lugar para apadrentarse, que este tiempo nunca suele ser mas largo de dos o tres días. Esta piedrecita misteriosa se le llamaba la "Cuéllebre", el verdadero, o mejor dicho uno de los verdaderos dioses mitológicos de mi amada Asturias, no como ese otro cuéllebre que inventó no se quién, que como tantos otros que se dedicaron y se dedican a lo mismo, que están haciendo de las Costumbres y de todo el Ancestro Cultural de mi Dulce y Embrujadora Tierrina, desde hace ya muchos años, todo un trenzamiento de mal hechas mentiras y equívocos de niños subnormales, que sólo han logrado que nuestra hermosa Cultural no medre, para alcanzar el lugar prominente que por historia y valía le corresponde. —Yo he visto el Cuéllebre una vez en las manos de un afamado curandero, que era un hombre muy pequeño y viejo, alegre y muy hablador, muy amigo de la Bruja Genoveva y de mi amo Rosendo.
