AA. Religión [Esp. 1996]). De ese uso particular ha pasado a la lengua general -escrita frecuentemente con la grafía hispanizada ex cátedra-, donde significa 'con autoridad' o, peyorativamente, 'en tono magistral o dogmático': "Se creía un experto en el tema vasco, del que hablaba ex cátedra" (Feo Años [Esp. 1993]).[RAE: Diccionario panhispánico de dudas. Madrid: Santillana, 2005, p. 282]La cátedra era un asiento con brazos desde en el que se sentaba el maestro o profesor para dar su clase.
