1896-1977La aparente ligereza de las peliculas de Howard Hawks es enganosa. Detras de unos filmes que, a primera vista, solo pretenden entretener al espectador, hay mucho mas; mas de lo que pueden ofrecer no pocos directores intelectualmente comprometidos. Por eso, hay que afirmar rotundamente que Howard Hawks es uno de los realizadores mas grandes del cine americano y del cine en general, a la altura de los diez o doce mas ilustres de todos los tiempos. La cosa empezo en el verano de 1916, cuando un joven estudiante de ingenieria, buen de portista, aficionado a los automoviles, decidio aprovechar las vacaciones de verano trabajando en Fa mous Players-Lasky, la futura Paramount, como ascensorista. Un ano despues, ya graduado, vuelve, ahora para colaborar en la produccion como decorador, montador, director de casting, ayudante de direccion y todo lo que fuera necesario hasta que, despues de algun nuevo parentesis, se consolida como guionista, lo que facilita su paso a la direccion, que tuvo lugar en 1926 con la produccion Fox The Road to Glory. De las ocho peliculas mudas que realizo, la mas “hawksiana” es, sin duda, Una novia en cada puerto (A Girl in Every Port, 1928), pero el director es, sin discusion, un hombre del sonoro, acaso por la esplendida utilizacion de los dialogos que lo caracterizo, y que se pone de manifiesto de forma extrema en La fiera de mi nina (Bringing Up Baby, 1938), una de las cumbres de la comedia. Todo aquello que toco Hawks, lo dignifico: la comedia, como se ha puesto de manifiesto, pero tambien el cine negro, con El sueno eterno (The Big Sleep, 1946), el filme de aventuras, con Hatari! (1962) y, desde luego, el western, genero en el que cada una de sus incursiones originaba una obra maestra. Rio Bravo es, sin ningun genero de dudas, una de las dos o tres mejores peliculas de un genero tan inagotable como la vida. Al parecer, el origen de la pelicula hay que encontrarlo en la irritacion que le producia a Hawks Solo ante el peligro (High Noon, Fred Zinnemann, 1952), cuyo metraje discurre en la tarea de encontrar ayuda para que el sheriff del lugar pueda enfrentarse a unos pistoleros que se encuentran camino de la ciudad. La idea motriz de Hawks, permanente a lo largo de toda su filmografia, de mostrar a personas (preferentemente hombres porque las mujeres son, sobre todo, causa de conflictos) que estan realizando su trabajo y lo realizan lo mejor que saben, es la historia de todos y cada uno de sus westerns, particularmente de su falsa coleccion de “rios”, formada por dos peliculas en lugar de cuatro, porque Rio Rojo es, en realidad, Red River, y en Rio de sangre ni siquiera aparece la palabra en el titulo original. Solo Rio Bravo y Rio Lobo, peliculas fronterizas donde las haya, responden a la idea que acuno el termino unificador para las cuatro peliculas. Estas dos ultimas, y la estupenda El Dorado, remake mas o menos encubierto de Rio Bravo, si que permanecen unidas por estrechos lazos cronologicos, estilisticos y tematicos.Viva Villa! (.Viva Villa!) Xeneral, general, en general todo, ya saben.————————Xeneral, general del Ejército en este caso el Xeneral Franco. —Como han podido ustedes observar, la Xuntura además de ser un diccionario de la Chingua d'Asturies es además como la historia en general de las costumbres y hechos que han sucedido en mi Tierrina, y el Xeneral Franco ha tenido mucho que ver por lo menos en lo que concierne a mi vida. Si no fuese el Xeneral Franco la República quizás hubiera ganado la guerra Civil Española, y al ser mi padre un gran republicano, muy culto y cabal, seguramente me hubiese proporcionado estudios, y yo sé que en cualquiera de ellos hubiese triunfado plenamente, olvidándome por encontrarme inmerso continuamente en el quehacer que tuviese, de lo que ahora estoy haciendo, pero el Xeneral Franco gano la guerra, y su régimen asesino a mi padre y me dejó a mi tirado siendo un niño en la cuneta de la vida como huérfano de los Rojos despreciado y olvidado de toda protección. A pesar de todo, yo en el transcurrir de mis años e ir dándome cuenta de lo que había sucedido, llegué a comprender en algunas cosas al Xeneral Franco, y por esta razón le he hecho este poema. —Con esto pretendo decir, que para hablar con cierta propiedad de las costumbres y forma de hablar de un Pueblo, hay que sin ningún genero de dudas haberlas vivido en todo su plenitud en el mismo lugar donde el ancestro vive, y el Xeneral Franco, por una serie de circunstancias todas nefastosas para mí, me condeno a hacerlo, ya que si él hubiese sido vencido por la República, yo hubiera tenido una carrera, y no podría ser el humilde y sencillo Xulín de LLuza, ni haber hecho la Xuntura, bajo ningún concepto ni forma. ¿Me comprenden verdad? —Vencer o Morir fue desde siempre la vida del Xeneral, el fue el general más joven del mundo en su época, el ganó la guerra de Marruecos en los años veinte para todos los españoles, porque me consta que derechistas e izquierdistas le aclamaron como el héroe que era, que desde la nada había subido al más alto escalón de los héroes de la Patria, vendiendo su vida en infinidad de combates por el amor que tenía hacía su España. ''EL DICTADOR" —Desde los infinitos espacios donde mora mi Novia la Cadarma, mi espíritu de indómito guerrero, ya en el lugar donde reina la calma, a mi España querida me dirijo, por la voz de un poeta de mi Pueblo, que le dejé sin padre y sin casa. —Xamás quixe tiranizar a mious xentes, todas valientes, Nobles e Hidalgas, a las cuales desde niño he aprendido a quererlas con el amor de la Patria, yo por ellas desde joven he luchado y mi sangre a raudales la vertí, sin esperar más recompensa que el contentar a mi amada Patria. —Fue por este amor que he profesado a mi España que serví como soldado, por lo que en dictador me he proclamado, para poder sacarla del caos más taimado, donde la anarquía y el latrocinio a la Guerra Civil la habían llevado. —You coyí la nuexa Patria esfuétcharada, ameruxá d'odius, de fame ya vengancia, ya en sous cuarexas endenantes bazcuchandu corrompináes de bon goro ya de plata, taben entóus escosáes tan d'afechu, comu 'l entamu d'una vírxen ou d'una vieya. —Forun baldrayus ya banduerus dirixentes lus que colarun con la cauroxa bétchada, porque vendiendo sus ideas con sus gentes, se xebrárun con las riquezas pan del pueblo p'oitres ñaciones qu'enxamás las degolguierun, dexandu a España en la mixeria desfecha. —Huyeron los políticos cobardes apaxiétcháus per el goru y la riqueza, convirtiéndose en traidores despreciables, robando el pan de los huérfanos de guerra, y dejando abandonados en el frente a unos héroes que morían por su causa. —You m’erixí 'n ditador per el temor, qu’oitres dirixentes baldrayantes ya banduerrus, fexeran denuéu con les xentes de miou Patria, lu mesmu que cheldaran lus chabascus ya xebráus, que nin roxus, nin prietus forun nin yeran, porque siempre habrá cobardes y traidores que robaran y asesinaran al humilde pueblo, en cualquier régimen que la Patria tenga. —Yo levanté la patria desgajada con férreo mando y dura disciplina, rodeado de odios, y de hipócritas desprecios que no pudieron doblegarme nunca. —Hoy que mi cuerpo reposa bajo losa y es enjambre de gusanos que lo gozan, mi espíritu feliz y siempre sosegado, por mi fiel Novia la celosa Cadarma, al poeta más humilde yo le digo que al pueblo diga esta mi charla. —He vencido el odio y la venganza, ganando tras la muerte mi última batalla, cuando vi como mi pueblo unido decía adiós a mi muerto cuerpo, con el llanto al glorioso y sentido, donde no presencie ni odios ni venganza. —Sólo una hidalga nación como es España, puede decir con sano e indomable orgullo desde la muerte y la ruina, sin la ayuda de ningún pueblo amigo, como venganza pobre y despreciada, por la causa de yo ser un dictador, que consiguió que mi Patria inigualada tan sin igual proeza alcanzara. —Ahí os dejo ahora en paz y hartos, con un Rey inteligente y muy humano, para que alcancéis la libertad entera, ¡pero cuidado, hijos de mi Patria Amada, que si no sabéis bien comportaros, el mismo Rey inteligente y noble, sabrá convertirse en otro dictador, que sabrá defender a viva fuerza la paz y dignidad de la Patria, que vosotros no supisteis conservar, pisoteando la libertad honrada, buscando al dictador que os quitara la libertad que conquistasteis el mismo día que me fui con mi Novia la Cadarma! —Como pueden ustedes observar en todo el transcurrir de este diccionario, el “régimen dictatorial del Xeneral Franco", me quitó, me asesinó, me destrozó todo lo más sagrado, querido y necesario que pueda tener un ser Humano, si deximimus la propia vida. Sin embargo yo se muy bien, que el Xeneral Franco no se enteró de miles de atropellos y deshumanizantes asesinatos que se cometieron en nuestra querida y amada Patria España, pues mi propio padre que fue Laureado como él cuando entrambos y dos eran legionarios y luchaban unidos por la Patria España en el Protectorado de Marruecos, digo que mi padre condenado a muerte por Roxu en la cárcel demoníaca de Oviedo de aquellos tiempos de venganza y muerte, fue indultado por el Caudillo, y aún así su “régimen” lo asesinó.Primer Diccionario Enciclopédicu de la Llingua Asturiana > xeneral
