21 get
❢ This much-used verb has no multi-purpose equivalent in French and therefore is very often translated by choosing a synonym: to get lunch = to prepare lunch = préparer le déjeuner. get is used in many idiomatic expressions ( to get something off one's chest etc) and translations will be found in the appropriate entry (chest etc). This is also true of offensive comments ( get stuffed etc) where the appropriate entry would be stuff. Remember that when get is used to express the idea that a job is done not by you but by somebody else ( to get a room painted etc) faire is used in French followed by an infinitive ( faire repeindre une pièce etc). When get has the meaning of become and is followed by an adjective (to get rich/drunk etc) devenir is sometimes useful but check the appropriate entry (rich, drunk etc) as a single verb often suffices ( s'enrichir, s'enivrer etc). For examples and further uses of get see the entry below.1 ( receive) recevoir [letter, school report, grant] ; recevoir, percevoir [salary, pension] ; TV, Radio capter [channel, programme] ; did you get much for it? est-ce que tu en as tiré beaucoup d'argent? ; what did you get for your car? combien as-tu revendu ta voiture? ; we get a lot of rain il pleut beaucoup ici ; our garden gets a lot of sun notre jardin est bien ensoleillé ; we get a lot of tourists nous avons beaucoup de touristes ; you get lots of attachments with this cleaner il y a beaucoup d'accessoires fournis avec cet aspirateur ; you get what you pay for il faut y mettre le prix ; he's getting help with his science il se fait aider en sciences ;2 ( inherit) to get sth from sb lit hériter qch de qn [article, money] ; fig tenir qch de qn [trait, feature] ;3 ( obtain) ( by applying) obtenir [permission, divorce, custody, licence] ; trouver [job] ; ( by contacting) trouver [plumber, accountant] ; appeler [taxi] ; ( by buying) acheter [food item, clothing] (from chez) ; avoir [theatre seat, ticket] ; to get something for nothing/at a discount avoir qch gratuitement/avec une réduction ; to get sb sth, to get sth for sb ( by buying) acheter qch à qn ; I'll get sth to eat at the airport je mangerai qch à l'aéroport ;4 ( subscribe to) acheter [newspaper] ;5 ( acquire) se faire [reputation] ; he got his money in oil il s'est fait de l'argent dans le pétrole ;6 ( achieve) obtenir [grade, mark, answer] ; he got it right ( of calculation) il a obtenu le bon résultat ; ( of answer) il a répondu juste ; how many do I need to get? ensemble comportant différents types d'appareillage associés à un ou plusieurs circuits électriques de départ alimentés par un ou plusieurs circuits électriques d'arrivée, ainsi que des bornes pour les conducteurs neutre et de protection.
[IEV number 826-16-08]Distribution switchboards, including the Main LV Switchboard (MLVS), are critical to the dependability of an electrical installation. They must comply with well-defined standards governing the design and construction of LV switchgear assemblies
A distribution switchboard is the point at which an incoming-power supply divides into separate circuits, each of which is controlled and protected by the fuses or switchgear of the switchboard. A distribution switchboard is divided into a number of functional units, each comprising all the electrical and mechanical elements that contribute to the fulfilment of a given function. It represents a key link in the dependability chain.
Consequently, the type of distribution switchboard must be perfectly adapted to its application. Its design and construction must comply with applicable standards and working practises.

The switchboard, central to the electrical installation.
Both the point of arrival of energy and a device for distribution to the site applications, the LV switchboard is the intelligence of the system, central to the electrical installation.
[Schneider Electric]Распределительный щит – «сердце» электроустановки.
Низковольтное комплектное устройство распределения является «сердцем» электроустановки, поскольку именно оно принимает электроэнергию из сети и распределяет её по территориально распределенным нагрузкам.

metal-enclosed switchgear
switchgear assemblies with an external metallic enclosure intended to be earthed and complete except for external connections
NOTE The metal-enclosed switchgear is subdivided into three types:
– metal-clad switchgear;
– compartmented switchgear (with one or more non-metallic partitions);
– cubicle switchgear
[IEC 61992-1, ed. 2.0 (2006-02)]
metal-clad switchgear
metal-enclosed switchgear in which components are arranged in separate compartments with metal partitions intended to be earthed
NOTE 1 This term applies to metal-enclosed switchgear with metal partitions providing the degree of protection (or higher) included in IEC 61992-6 and having separate compartments at least for the following components:
– each main switching device;
– components connected to one side of a main switching device, for example, feeder circuit;
– components connected to the other side of the main switching device, for example, busbars; where more than one set of busbars is provided, each set is in a separate compartment.
NOTE 2 Metal-enclosed switchgear having metal partitions and meeting all the requirements of NOTE 1 may utilise an insulating shutter barrier as a part of a shutter arrangement, the combination of which provides the degree of protection included in Table 1 of IEC 61992-6 (or higher) and satisfies the requirements of the standard for partitions and shutters made of insulating material.
[IEC 61992-1, ed. 2.0 (2006-02)]
compartmented switchgear (with non-metallic partitions)
metal-enclosed switchgear in which components are arranged in separate compartments as for metal-clad switchgear, but with one or more non-metallic partitions providing the degree of protection (or higher) included in Table 1 of IEC 61992-6
NOTE Metal-enclosed switchgear in which the main circuit components are individually embedded in solid insulating material can be considered as an alternative, provided that the conditions specified in IEC 60466 are met.
[IEC 61992-1, ed. 2.0 (2006-02)]
cubicle switchgear
switchgear, other than metal-clad and compartmented switchgear
NOTE This term applies to switchgear having a metal enclosure and having
– a number of compartments fewer than required for metal-clad or compartmented switchgear, or
– partitions having a degree of protection lower than those indicated in Table 1 of IEC 61992-6, or
– no partitions.
