1906-1953Llega a Hollywood en 1940 procedente de la radio, aunque ya habia tenido una experiencia previa en el cine como director de fotografia. Contratado por RKO, empieza dirigiendo filmes de bajo presupuesto, pero pronto pasa a encargarse de proyectos mas ambiciosos. Parece moverse con mas comodidad en la comedia y el pseudo-melodrama, a pesar de lo cual su unico western es una interesante muestra del genero.
