    δῆτα, Adv., lengthd. and more emphatic form of δή, first as v.l. in Hdt.4.69, mostly used by Trag. and Pl. (v. infr.).—Never placed at the beginning of a sentence or verse, exc. in S.Aj. 986.
    1 in answers, mostly added to a word which echoes a statement or question, as ἴσασιν ὅστις ἦρξε.. Answ. ἴσασι δ. aye they know, E.Med. 1373; γιγνώσκεθ' ὑμεῖς..; Answ. γιγνώσκομεν δ. yes we know her, Ar. Th. 606, cf. Eq.6, al.; ἰωὰ δὴ κατ' ἄστυ. Answ.

    ἰωὰ δ. A.Pers. 1071
