Эксцентричность (в декорациях, костюмах, перипетиях) и реализм (в актерской игре), сливаясь, образуют весьма живую череду бытовых зарисовок, которые в конце концов служат для большей наглядности повествования, а вновь обретенное семейное счастье становится неоспоримым доказательством обоснованности упомянутого кредо. В любом случае, как бы мы ни относились к воззрениям Де Милля, его любовь к зрелищности и хитрая едкость авторского взгляда притягивают зрителя.
