Hand, I) eig. u. bildl.: manus (ebenso allgemein wie das deutsche Wort, in eig. u. bildl. Bed., z.B. Hand, d.i. Macht, in der etw. steht, Hand, d.i. Handschrift, die jmd. schreibt usw.). – die rechte H., (manus) dextra: die linke H., (manus) sinistra od. laeva.

B) »Hand« abhängig von Präpositionen, u. zwar: a) mit an: an der H. der Natur, naturā duce. – jmd. an der H. führen, herumführen, alqm manu ducere: ich führe jmd.
[1207] an der H. hin, alqm manu tenens perduco: jmdm. an die H. gehen, alqm operā suā iuvare od. adiuvare: mit Rat, mit Rat u. Tat, s. Rat no. II: jmdm. etwas an die H. geben (uneig.), subicere alci alqd (eingeben, auch v. Lebl., z.B. v. der Natur); suadere alci alqd (raten, z.B. elige id, quod res ipsa [die Umstände] suaserit); praebere alci alqd (darbieten, z.B. res mihi duplicem defensionem praebet): was die Gesetze an die H. geben, quae legibus comparata sunt.
b) mit auf: die Sache liegt auf der H., in medio posita est res; res ante pedes est; res in promptu est: das liegt klar auf der Hand, daß etc., hoc in promptu manifestumque est mit folg. Akk. u. Infin. – auf seine H., auf eigene H., suis od. propriis viribus (mit eigener Kraft, z.B. alqd exsequi); propriis viribus consiliisque (mit eigenen Kräften u. nach eigenem Ermessen, z.B. bellum gerere); suo od. privato consilio (nach eigenem Ermessen, ineigenem Interesse); privato sumptu (auf eigene Kosten); suo Marte (auf eigenes Risiko [zunächst in bezug auf Kriegsangelegenheiten], z.B. bellum gerere); suo nomine (auf eigene Verantwortung, z.B. bellum alci indicere); suā sponte (ohne anderer Zutun u. Armen): unter der H., s. gelegentlich: etwas unter der H. (im Gespräche) erwähnen, mitteilen, s. »einfließen lassen« unter »einfließen«: unter die Hände kommen, in alcis manus venire.
