По своим целям и задачам сравним с Лондонским клубом. Однако, Лондонский клуб – это объединение частных инвесторов, главным образом, банков, а Парижский — «неформальная группа официальных кредиторов, роль которых состоит в поиске скоординированных и надежных решений платежных проблем испытываемых странами-должниками. Парижский клуб предоставляет соответствующее решение долговых проблем при условии проведения реформ, направленных на стабилизацию и восстановление макроэкономической и финансовой ситуации» (Сайт Парижского клуба).Россия участвует в работе клуба и как должник (по долгам, унаследованным от бывшего СССР), и как кредитор по отношению к многим развивающимся странам, придерживавшихся в свое время т.н. социалистической ориентации, которым Советский Союз раздавал многомиллиардные кредиты в основном на приобретение оружия. Со своим долгами в рамках Парижского клуба Россия к настоящему времени в основном рассчиталась, а вот с кредитами еще предстоит работа.

Лондонский клуб
Неформальное объединение частных кредиторов, чаще всего банков, созданное для урегулирования займов, выданных частными кредиторами государствам-должникам. Если страна имеет невыполненные обязательства перед многими банками, то от имени кредиторов создается так называемый Банковский консультационный комитет, куда входят не более 15 банков, которым она должна больше всего. Этот комитет ведет переговоры о реструктуризации долга. Соглашение считается достигнутым только тогда, когда учтены интересы всех банков, задолженность перед которыми составляет 90-95% от общей суммы. Как правило, Лондонский клуб соглашается, после переговоров, на отсрочку выплат на два-три года, причем должник может получить дополнительный кредит для обслуживания текущего долга. Российский долг, унаследованный от СССР, был реструктуризирован Лондонским клубом в 1997 году. В 2009 году этот долг был полностью погашен. Ср. Парижский клуб.
