Since Osthoff PBBeitr. 8, 271 taken as intensive *Ϝαι-Ϝικ-ι̯ω and compared with Skt. ve-vij-yá-te `to raise, flee, move quickly'. But there is no trace of a F (Solmsen Unt. 189) and the long ι remains unexplained.
