Самые впечатляющие сцены этого фильма – начальные, когда Пип и Эстелла еще дети. В обеих картинах Лин хранит верность Диккенсу в том отношении, что мир, в котором живут Пип и Оливер, показан как загадочная планета, полная сюрпризов и странностей, но вместе с тем – жестокости и страха.
