Porque el maíz en mis dulces encantadoras aldeinas, era todavía más importarte que el mismo pan de escanda. Con la rubia y fina harina de maíz, se hacían las papillas por la mañana y a la noche, que se comían con leche caliente que en el momento había sido ordeñada, y dejaban a las gentes hartas, eruptando de satisfechas, en el acaecer que sus vidas se deslizaban felices y contentas. —Con las fregaduras y restos que de las papillas que quedaban en los platos y demás recipientes, se hacían también buenas y nutritivas comidas para los cerdos. Y el pan de maíz bien hecho, era según mí parecer mucho mejor que el mismo pan de la artesa. También afirmo, y siempre según mi humilde parecer, que el maíz era en mis queridas aldeinas todo un pequeño dios, que no permitía que el hambre visitare sus muy Queridos y ancestrales hogares. —Hoy en día ya no se hacen las esfoyazas como en los tiempos pasados, entonces las esfoyazas se realizaban por las noches, una noche en la casa de un vecino, otra noche en la casa de otro, y eran aquellas encantadoras veladas del trabajo de la esfuétcha, pequeñas y dulces fiestiquinas, llenas de encantadoras alegrías, dónde en el hacer que se deshojaban las rubias y benditas panojinas, las gentes de mis aldeas hermanadas y felices, sonrientes y sin ningún perjuicio, porque eran naturales y nobles sencillas, y formadas en las mismas raíces y ancestros de Nuestra Embrujadora Asturias. Dígoles yo ahora que aquellas mis gentes llenas de una sana alegría, se contaban cuentos, historias y otras muchas cosas, así como de vez en cuando se lanzaban algunas sátiras que no les fueran muy enojosas, y todo esto lo hacían al son del ruido de las hojas de las mazorcas, mientras que con rapidez las deshojaban. —Todos en cuadrilla desinteresada hacíamos corro al montón de mazorcas, del que íbamos cogiendo sin escoger las panojas, las que eran buenas para enrestrarlas, les dejábamos las hojas bien juntas, mientras que los relucientes granos quedándose desnudos, tal parecía que nos estaban alumbrando las venideras harturas que nos iban hacer eruptar de satisfechos. —Y las otras mazorcas que eran más ruinas de hojas o de granos, les arrancábamos del todo todas sus hojas, y las convertíamos en las llamadas panojas de rabuco. Las pequeñas mazorcas verdes y a medio granar, las echábamos en un rincón o cesto, y servían como nutritivo pienso para las vacas paridas, y hasta los mismos cerdos por ellas se alegraban. Las hojas con su leño también se aprovechaban para mullir a los ganados, menos a los cerdos, pues estos no les sentaba bien que se les mullera con las hojas de las panojas si éstas no estaban bien secas, por causa de que los buenos cerdos, tienen el pellejo muy fino y lustroso, y no se puede negar que existen muchos cerdos, que son más elegantes y más finos, que muchas personas de las que yo conozco. —Las sanas y buenas hojas de las panojas que no tuviesen ningún pequeño leño se echaban dentro de unos grandes cestos, para después subirlas al desván, y esparcirlas para que se secasen bien, pues luego servían para hacer los jergones donde las gentes dormían y descansaban muy calentinas y felices. —Todo cuanto alumbra el maíz es de buen provecho, pues hasta las negras o rubias barbas de las panojas, me recuerdo que bien hervidas daban un caldo, que era milagrosa medicina para exterminar los infinitos piojos que nos arropaban. —No morirán las Ancestrales Costumbres de mi Querida Tierrina, ni podrán mistificarlas este conjunto de asquerosos babosos, como son los dirigentes del Conceyu Bable y todavía hablo peor de los Amigos del Bable, pues estos plagistas de perros falderos, tanto los unos como los otros, con la ayuda que desde sus comienzos les han prestado algunos periodistas y demás medios de comunicación, que apartando a unos pocos que si saben donde se encuentra la verdad, pero que nunca la han defendido, digo que toda esta camarilla de gilipollas, no podrán jamás equivocar ni menos enredar a las inteligentes gentes asturianas aunque hasta hoy no han demostrado lo contrario, yo sé que a no mucho tardar sabrán poner en el estercolero que les corresponde a todo este estiércol de payasos de noche oscura. —Y si esto no sucediese, aquí estoy yo para hablar en defensa de las naturales y ancestrales cosas de mi Tierrina, que no son otros hechos que nuestro más puro "Ancestro". Me recuerdo que sucedió en un mes de Junio, aquella mañana solariega, dulce y cantarina de mi aldea, donde todos los alegres pajarinos cantaban felices y enamorados, su placenteroso vivir santificante. Jamás se borró de mi cerebro, y muchas, infinitas veces, yo he pensado en ella, y por esto, llegué a considerar las hormigas, como las criaturas más poderosas del Universo entero. —Aquel lejano día, yo me encontré con la hormiga en un callejón enlosado de mi aldea, serían las nueve de la mañana cuando la vi encima de una losa peleándose dentro de asesinante lucha, contra un gusano, que era por lo menos cien veces más grande que ella. El gusano se enroscaba, se doblaba y se retorcía sobre si mismo, sin lograr deshacerse de aquella hormiga, que era rubia lo mismo que las mazorcas, yo me agaché al lado de ella para mejor repararla, y vi como el gusano después de largo tiempo de estirarse y encogerse, de luchar ardorosamente en contra de la hormiga, pues aunque otras hormigas querían prestarle ayuda a su hermana, yo no permití, que ningún bicho viviente se arrimase a ella. Digo, que el gusano ya cansado, se quedó un poco adormecido y entonces la hormiga dejó de a colmillar por él, alejándose de su lado, corriendo a la velocidad de una centella, como dos cuartas alrededor del gusano, después se puso estirada encima de sus traseras partes, a la vez que afilaba sus antenas con grande rapidez, como si pretendiese pedir ayuda o comunicación con sus compañeras, y después con la prisa de un relámpago, volvió otra vez a morder el gusano, en el mismo lugar que antes lo hubiera hecho, éste, el pobre, volvió a estirarse y encogerse, a enroscarse y retorcerse consigo mismo, hasta que de nuevo quedó otra vez adormecido por el descomunal esfuerzo que en su defensa hacía, entonces la hormiguita volvió hacer lo mismo que antes hiciera, pero en este suceder la distancia que recorrió fue el doble que la primera y así lo hizo otras muchas veces hasta que a la postre quedo el gusano del todo muerto, entonces la hormiga comenzó a arrastrarle, según mi parecer sin dirección ni rumbo determinado lo mismo le arrastraba para un lado que para el otro, sin hacer la más mínima parada en su endemoniada brega, y cuando cesaba en su ardoroso y enloquecedor trabajo de arrastrar aquel gusano que pesaría cien veces más que ella, hacía meteóricas carreras cada vez más largas, casi siempre en círculo alrededor del gusano, que eran hasta más de dos metros de distancia y a veces hasta ocho o diez y siempre moviendo y afilando sus antenas, para de nuevo volver al lado del gusano, y siempre con la misma fuerza y ardoroso entusiasmo le arrastraba de un lado para otro, y tal parecía que cada vez le llevaba con más ligereza, y tal vez fuera por la causa del calor, que secaba la sustancia del gusano. El caso fue, que llegó la oscurecida del día, y fue entonces cuando me alejé del lado de la hormiga y me marché para mi casa, y en todo el tiempo que la vigilé y observé, que fueron más de doce horas, no paró de correr y de trabajar ni tan siquiera el tiempo de un pestañeo. —Aquella pequeña hormiga recorrió en todo el día mas de un kilómetro de distancia, y arrastró aquel gusano por lo menos cien metros, si ahora hacemos comparanzas, entre la humilde hormiga y el soberbio Hombre, considerando a éste cien millones de veces más grande que la hormiga, pues tendría que levantar un peso de ocho mil quilos, y llevarlo sin parada ni descanso diez millones de kilómetros, en el mismo tiempo que tendría que recorrer cien millones de kilómetros más. Por éstos razonamientos yo pienso, que el mundo de la hormiga es un ingenioso misterio, que el Hombre todavía no descubrió y yo pienso que una criatura que vive al lado nuestro, que es capaz de hacer tal trabajo y recorrer tal distancia en una sola jornada de su vida, es algo de lo más poderoso que el Hombre tiene que descubrir con grande prisa, si quiere algún día poder hacer lo mismo que hace la hormiga y no sólo en el trabajo y en el poder, sino en el vivir feliz su infinita vida.Primer Diccionario Enciclopédicu de la Llingua Asturiana > formiga
