Trabajo como especialista y como actor en el cine mudo. En particular, fue doble de Douglas Fairbanks en escenas especialmente arriesgadas. Talmadge creo incluso su propia productora en 1923. A la llegada del sonoro deja practicamente de aparecer en peliculas en las que tuviera que hablar, debido a su fuerte acento aleman. Es el momento de situarse detras de la camara, como ayudante de direccion. Entre 1949 y 1956 dirige cinco peliculas.
