It draws on many languages, including Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, French, German, and several African languages. It has found its way into popular songs and theater. Lunfardo words in standard colloquial speech are: morfar (to eat), güita (money), and mina (woman).* * *
lunfardo sustantivo masculino
Buenos Aires slang
* * *lunfardo nm= working-class Buenos Aires slangLUNFARDOLunfardo was the lower-class slang of Buenos Aires in the early years of the 20th century. It was heavily influenced by the speech of the Italian immigrants who arrived in Argentina in huge numbers around the turn of the century. Its vocabulary was popularized through the words of tango music, and many terms have entered popular speech throughout the River Plate region. Despite its humble origins, lunfardo is now widely regarded as a fundamental part of the cultural heritage of Buenos Aires, and an academy dedicated to its study was founded in 1962. Nowadays it survives more in the words of classic tango songs than in daily use. Nevertheless, one of the typical features of lunfardo persists in popular speech – the inversion of the syllables in a standard Spanish word. Thus one can hear “lorca” used instead of “calor” or “ofri” instead of “frío”, and this can be applied to almost any word.* * * -

♦ Locuciones: familiar figurado no casarse con nadie, to stay single
Los anglohablantes prefieren usar el verbo to marry cuando hay algún complemento (nos casó un cura viejo, an old priest married us; me caso con Mary mañana, I'm marrying Mary tomorrow) y to get married cuando no lo hay: Me caso mañana. I'm getting married tomorrow. Observa que también es frecuente el uso de la voz pasiva: we were married by an old priest.

It is thought that the entremés (derived from the Italian intermezzo) was first performed on the Spanish stage in the 16th century and derives from the influential Italian Commedia dell'Arte. COMEDIA The Spanish comedias written by dramatists of the Golden Age, or Edad de Oro, were five-act plays performed in open-air theatres. They involved stock characters similar to those of the Italian Commedia dell'Arte: a beautiful lady, her suitor, servants and go-betweens. In these comedias, which were not always comical in nature, action and a moral theme took precedence over character. Cloak and dagger episodes were built around plots involving disguises and mistaken identity. They dealt primarily with affairs of the nobility, while peasants were there to provide comic relief or to enhance particular pastoral themes. One of the most prolific comedia writers was Lope de Vega, who wrote on religious, historical and social themes. Other major comedia writers were Pedro Calderón de la Barca and Tirso de Molina, from whose pen came the figure of the archetypal seducer, Don Juan, in El Burlador de Sevilla y Convidado de Piedra (1630).¡deja de hacer comedia y di la verdad! — stop play-acting o pretending and tell the truth!
