Argentina's presidents have addressed the people from the balcony of the palace, but the most famous orator to use it was Evita Peron, so there was a huge controversy when film director Alan Parker obtained permission to use the balcony when filming his musical “Evita” in 1997, with Madonna in the title role.* * *f1 house;como una casa fam huge fam ;comenzar la casa por el tejado fig put the cart before the horse;echar otirar la casa por la ventana spare no expense;se me cayó la casa encima fig the bottom fell out of my world2 DEP:jugar en casa play at home;jugar fuera de casa play away, play on the road3 ( hogar) home;en casa at home;estás en tu casa make yourself at home;llevar la casa run the home;ser muy de su casa be a real home-lover;todo queda en casa everything stays in the family* * *casa nf1) : house, building2) hogar: home3) : household, family4) : company, firm5)echar la casa por la ventana : to spare no expense* * *casa n1. 56 ëa
1 sometimes "eä" vb. "is" CO, in a more absolute sense "exists", VT39:7/VT49:28-29 than the copula ná. Eä "it is" VT39:6 or "let it be". The verb is also used in connection with prepositional phrases denoting a position, as in the relative sentences i or ilyë mahalmar ëa who is above all thrones CO and i ëa han ëa *who is beyond the universe of Eä VT43:14. Eä is said to the be present & aorist tense VT49:29. The past tense of ëa is engë VT43:38, VT49:29; Tolkien struck out the form ëanë, VT49:30, the historically correct perfect should be éyë, but the analogical form engië was more common; the future tense is euva VT49:29. See also ëala. Eä is also used as a noun denoting "All Creation", the universe WJ:402; Letters:284, footnote, but this term for the universe "was not held to include souls? and spirits" VT39:20; contrast ilu. One version of Tolkien's Quenya Lord's Prayer includes the words i ëa han ëa, taken to mean "who is beyond Eä" VT43:14. Tolkien noted that ëa properly cannot be used of God since ëa refers only to all things created by Eru directly or mediately, hence he deleted the example Eru ëa *God exists VT49:28, 36. However, ëa is indeed used of Eru in CO i Eru i or ilyë mahalmar uëa/u the One who uis/u above all thrones as well as in various Átaremma versions see VT49:36, so such a distinction may belong to the refined language of the loremasters rather than to everyday useage. 3 "eagle" LT1:251, LT2:338, a Qenya word apparently superseded by soron, sornë in Tolkien's later forms of Quenya. -
Английские эквиваленты, в отличие от русского существительного случай, различают разные виды событий, происшествий и обстоятельств их совершения.1. occurrence — случай, явление (обозначает лишь факт происшествия, и поэтому чаще всего употребляется с определением): a happy occurrence — счастливый случай; a rare occurrence — редкое явление; an everyday/a common occurrence — обычное явление/обычный случай2. case — случай, происшествие, дело (чаще всего обозначает совершившееся, фактическое событие; часто употребляется с определением, которое занимает позицию после существительного case и выражено другим существительным с предлогом of): a case of no importance — несущественное происшествие/мелкое происшествие/несущественный случай; a case of principle — дело принципа/принципиальное дело; cases of robbery (murder, illness) — случаи ограбления (убийства, заболевания); in this case — в таком случае; in any case — в любом случае/при любых обстоятельствах; in your case — в вашем случае/положении; in case of delay — в случае задержки/если произойдет задержка; just in case — на всякий случай/на случай, если…/а вдруг It is sunny now, but take your umbrella jusl in case, our weather is so changeable. The cafe is closed in (hat case allow me lo invite you to my place. — Кафе закрыто, а раз так, разрешите пригласить вас ко мне домой.3. incident — случай, эпизод, инцидент (обозначает единичное событие или один из многих эпизодов, не имеющих серьезного значении; употребляется в повседневной разговорной речи): a strange incident — странный случай; an incident from the life of a writer случай из жизни писателя Nobody knew anything about this incident. It was a funny (a very unpleasant) incident. — Это была смешная истории (неприятная) история.4. accident — случай, происшествие, несчастный случай, авария, катастрофа: a car accident — автомобильная катастрофа; road accidents — дорожные происшествия/аварии; to have an accident — попасть в аварию All victims of this accident were taken to hospital, their lives are fortunately out of danger. He was killed in an accident. He is such a careless driver, I would not wonder if he gets into an accident. They decided lo consider the whole affair. — Они решили рассмотреть все обстоятельства этого дела./Они решили рассмотреть все обстоятельства этого события./Они решили рассмотреть все обстоятельства этого случая.6. chance — случай, случайность (какое-либо незапланированное происшествие, что-либо маловероятное): а rаrе chance — редкий случай; an unexpected chance — неожиданный случай; by chance — случайно; by a lucky chance — по счастливой случайности; quite by chance — совершенно случайно; on the off chance — на случай/а вдруг/непредвиденный случай; chance meetings — случайные встречи; chance visitors — случайные посетители; a chance talk — случайный разговор; to hear smth by chance — услышать что-либо случайно; to leave things to chance — предоставить все делу случая/положиться на волю случая; to leave nothing to chance — все предусмотреть I didn't expect to catch her at home and called on the off chance. I waited for a chance to introduce myself. — Я ждал случая представиться. it was a mere chance that me met. -
περίψημα, ατος, τό (Vi. Aesopi G 35 P.; from περιψάω= ‘wipe all around, wipe clean’) that which is removed by the process of cleansing, dirt, off-scouring (Jer 22:28 Sym.) πάντων περίψημα the off-scouring of all things 1 Cor 4:13. But reflection on the fact that the removal of the περίψ. cleanses the thing or the pers. to which (whom) it was attached, has given the word the further mng. ransom, scapegoat, sacrifice (cp. Tob 5:19. Hesychius equates it w. περικατάμαγμα [cp. καταμάσσω ‘wipe off’] and ἀντίλυτρα, ἀντίψυχα. Photius p. 425, 3 explains περίψ. w. ἀπολύτρωσις and then continues, referring to the custom of making a human sacrifice every year for the benefit of the rest of the people [s. on this Ltzm. and JWeiss on 1 Cor 4:13]: οὕτως ἐπέλεγον τῷ κατʼ ἐνιαυτὸν ἐμβαλλομένῳ τῇ θαλάσσῃ νεανίᾳ ἐπʼ ἀπαλλαγῇ τῶν συνεχόντων κακῶν• περίψημα ἡμῶν γενοῦ• ἤτοι σωτηρία καὶ ἀπολύτρωσις. καὶ οὕτως ἐνέβαλον τῇ θαλάσσῃ ὡσανεὶ τῷ Ποσειδῶνι θυσίαν ἀποτιννύντες ‘in this wise they spoke over the young man who was being cast into the sea in accordance with annual custom for deliverance from afflictions: “Be our means of cleansing; in truth, our salvation and deliverance.” And so they cast him into the sea, a sacrificial payment in full, as it were, to Poseidon.’). But it must also be observed that περίψ. had become more and more a term of polite self-depreciation, common enough in everyday speech (Dionys. of Alex. in Eus., HE 7, 22, 7 τὸ δημῶδες ῥῆμα. S. also the grave-inscription [in WThieling, D. Hellenismus in Kleinafrika 1911, p. 34] in which a wife says w. reference to her deceased husband ἐγώ σου περίψημα τῆς καλῆς ψυχῆς); the sense would then be someth. like most humble servant. So certainly in περίψ. τοῦ σταυροῦ IEph 18:1. But prob. also 8:1; B 4:9; B 6:5 (s. HVeil: EHennecke, Hdb. zu den ntl. Apokryphen 1904, 218; also JToutain, Nouvelles Études ’35, 144–46).—Frisk s.v. ψῆν. M-M. TW. Spicq. -

σαρκικός, ή, όν (σάρξ; Aristot., HA 10, 2, 635a, 11 v.l.; a verse, perh. by Sotades Lyr. [III B.C.] 19, p. 244 Coll.; Maximus Tyr. 11, 10e v.l. Mel., P. 55, 402 Ch. τοῦ σαρκίνου οἴκου, but σαρκικοῦ B]; Just., Tat.—σαρκικός means ‘belonging to the σάρξ’ [opp. πνευματικός], ‘fleshly’; on the other hand, σάρκινος is ‘consisting/composed of flesh’, ‘fleshy’. Our lit., or at least its copyists, for the most part did not observe this distinction in all occurrences of the word. The forms are generally interchanged in the tradition; for exceptions s. MParsons, NTS 34, ’88, 151–55; s. also B-D-F §113, 2; Rob. 158f.)① pert. to being material or belonging to the physical realm, material, physical, human, fleshlyⓐ of everyday earthly things, τὰ σαρκικά in ref. to a collection for the poor in Jerusalem Ro 15:27; of material means of support 1 Cor 9:11.ⓑ of human physical being as such: Polycarp is σαρκικὸς καὶ πνευματικός, i.e. the physical aspect makes it possible to deal with visible phenomena and the spiritual contributes a special dimension to the encounter IPol 2:2. The Risen Lord συνέφαγεν αὐτοῖς (i.e. the disciples) ὡς σαρκικός he ate with them as an ordinary human being would ISm 3:3. ἵνα ἐκ νεκρῶν ἡμᾶς ἐγείρῃ σαρκικούς that (Jesus Christ) might raise us mere humans from the dead AcPlCor 2:6.—Sim. In all these pass. Ignatius expresses his understanding of a human being as consisting of two major parts: material body and inward endowment of spirit. Thus Ignatius’s Christians function in two realms. This perspective is different (exc. for the reminiscence IEph 8:2 [s. 2]) from the qualitative judgments expressed in pass. in 2 in which ς. and πνευματικός are in opposition.② pert. to being human at a disappointing level of behavior or characteristics, (merely) human. Old Testament perspectives respecting the fragility of bodily existence are assumed in our lit., but with a heightening of contrast between the physical and spiritual state or condition and with focus on the physical as being quite mediocre, transitory, or sinful earthly, mediocre, merely human, worldly (Anth. Pal. 1, 107; Iren. 1, 6, 3 [Harv. I 56, 2]; Orig., C. Of immature Christians σαρκικοί ἐστε 1 Cor 3:3ab. In what appears to be a reminiscence of 2 Cor 2:14–3:3 (s. also Ro 8:5), of dissidents or schismatics in contrast to orthodox believers οἱ σαρκικοὶ τὰ πνευματικὰ πράσσειν οὐ δύνανται, οὐδὲ οἱ πνευματικοὶ τὰ σαρκικά IEph 8:2.—In addition, σαρκικός is found as v.l. (σάρκινος is in the text, as Maximus Tyr. 11, 10f; Philo, Sacr. Abel. 63) in Ro 7:14; 1 Cor 3:1; Hb 7:16; in all three places the v.l. is the rdg. of the t.r.—S. lit. s.v. DELG s.v. M-M.
