Gli esempi nella voce qui sotto documentano due usi particolari legati all'uso di each (of) ed everybody / everyone: innanzitutto, che è possibile l'alternanza fra they each e each of them o we each e each of us; secondariamente, che l'aggettivo possessivo dipendente da everyone, everybody o each (of) è nell'inglese corrente d'oggi their, con valore singolare e indistinto tra maschile e femminile, usato proprio per evitare l'uso generico di his o forme pesanti come his or her (ognuno prenda il suo libro! = everybody take their book! meglio di: everybody take his book! o: everybody take his or her book!) - Si veda anche la voce ciascuno.pron.indef.(ciascuno) (nell'insieme) everyone, everybody; (singolarmente) each; ognuno di noi vuole qualcosa di diverso we each want something different; ha parlato con ognuno di noi a turno she spoke to each of us in turn; ognuno ha i suoi difetti everyone has their faults; questo è valido per ognuno di voi! that goes for every one of you!\ognuno per sé e Dio per tutti every man for himself (and God for us all).Страницы- 1
