ADVISE, ADVISE ON (ABOUT), OF, WITHAdvise в значении 'советовать' может употребляться с двумя прямыми дополнениями или с прямым и предложным дополнением (с предлогами on или about): to advise a patient a change of air, to advise a friend on (about) a new hat. (в деловой переписке) употребляется с прямым и предложным дополнением (с предлогом of): to advise the parents of their son's success. Advise может также означать 'советоваться'; в этом случае употребляются два дополнения – одно с предлогом with, другое с предлогом on (или about): to advise with friends on (about) a certain affair. 6 advise
•• advise, advice
•• Advice 1. (informed) opinion about what to do, how to behave (A.S. Hornby). 2. a piece of information (Oxford American Dictionary).
President Carter advised his Cabinet that he expected to resolve the remaining disarmament differences personally with Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev.
