sūryasū́ryam. the sun orᅠ its deity (in the Veda the name Sūrya is generally distinguished from Savitṛi <q.v.>, andᅠ denotes the most concrete of the solar gods, whose connection with the luminary is always present to the poet's mind;
in Nir. VII, 5 he is regarded as one of the original Vedic triad, his place being in the sky, while that of Agni is on the earth, andᅠ that of Indra is in the atmosphere;
ten hymns in the RV. are entirely in praise of Sūrya,
e.g.. I, 50, I, 115 etc.., alsoᅠ AV. XIII, 2 ;

अपकृ 8 U.1 To carry or bear away, remove, drag away, insult by dragging away; यो$पचक्रे वनात् सीताम् Bk. 8.2 bore forcibly away.-2 To hurt, injure, wrong, harm, do harm or injury to (usually with gen. of person); आपदि येनापकृतम् Pt.4.16; Śi.14.78; न किंचि- न्मया तस्यापकर्तुं शक्यम् Pt.1; किं तस्या मयापकृतम् 4 what harm have I done to her? किं च राक्षसराजस्य रामेणापकृतं पुरा Rām.; sometimes with acc. or loc. also; अथ वा सैनिकाः केचिदपकुर्युर्युधिष्ठिरम् Mb.; किमिव बत नात्मन्यपकृतं Bh.3.115; न परेषु महौजसश्छलादपकुर्वन्ति मलिम्लुचा इव Śi.16.52. -Caus. To harm, injure &c. -
20 अपकारः _apakārḥ
अपकारः 1 Harm, wrong; injury, hurt, offence, misdeed, wrong deed (opp. उपकार); स्वल्पेनाप्यपकारेण ब्राह्मण्यमिव दुष्यति Pt.1.66; उपकर्त्रारिणा सन्धिर्न मित्रेणाप- कारिणा। उपकारापकारौ हि लक्ष्यं लक्षणमेतयोः Śi.2.37; अपकारो- प्युपकारायैव संवृत्तः &c.-2 Thinking ill of, desire to offend or hurt (अनिष्टचिन्ता).-3 Wickedness, violence, oppression, enmity.-4 A mean or degraded action.-Comp. -अर्थिन् a. meaning to harm, malevolent, malicious.-गिर् f. (-गीः),-शब्दः abusive words, menacing or insulting speech; भर्त्सनं त्वपकारगीः Ak.
