Ему снится, что возвращается муж и что ему предстоит драться с ним на ринге на глазах у матери ребенка. Муж и в самом деле появляется – но для того, чтобы помириться с женой. Супруги благодарят Гарри и уходят. Гарри ничего не говорит: что он может сказать или сделать? Только дать им уйти. Настает ночь. В автобиографии Капра упрекает Лэнгдона, что он так до конца и не понял образ своего персонажа. Этот фильм показывает, что Лэнгдон понимал этот образ прекрасно. Но гораздо меньше он понимал, как будет реагировать публика. Публика не приняла эту картину, столь необычную и напоминающую сон своими декорациями, персонажами, медлительностью ритма, небольшим количеством и аллегоричностью перипетий. Фильм содержит мало гэгов, но усеян множеством восхитительных, поэтичных планов с повторяющимися визуальными мотивами рассвета (начальный план с еще горящими фонарями), ночи (Лэнгдон спускается по бесконечной лестнице с фонарем в руках) и снега. В фильмах, поставленных Капрой, юмор часто рождался из контраста и противопоставления 2 точек зрения: неполной, иррациональной точки зрения Лэнгдона и более информированной, рациональной точки зрения зрителя. В Силаче, The Strong Man зритель знает, что авантюристка позарилась на деньги Лэнгдона. Сам же Лэнгдон думает, что она увлеклась им как личностью, и ничего не понимает. В Длинных штанах, Long Pants публика знает, что полицейский, стоящий у ящика, – всего лишь манекен. Лэнгдон не знает об этом и ведет себя так, будто это живой человек.
