1890-1955Lloyd Bacon sera siempre recordado como el director de La calle 42 (42nd Street, 1933) y de Desfile de candilejas (Footlight Parade, 1933). Por lo demas, es un ho nesto, antiguo y prolifico profesional, que realiza mas de cien peliculas desde 1922, de las que casi 40 son mudas. Nacido en San Jose, California, perteneciente a una familia inmersa en el mundo escenico, sus primeros pasos en este universo los da como actor sobre un escenario. En Holly wood, ya en 1915, pasa por Essenay, Mutual y Triangle co mo especialista y actor, antes de convertirse en guionista y director a las ordenes de Mack Sennett. En 1925 pasa a Warner Bros, donde desarrollara la ma yor y mejor parte de su carrera como director, que incluye los dos musicales citados. En 1944 pasa a la Fox, y a partir de 1948 alterna con otras productoras. 1886-1945Escoces de nacimiento, la labor de Reginald Barker como director se limita, practicamente, al cine mudo, en el que no destaca apenas. No es un especialista del western; para este genero dirige solo catorce peliculas de un total de casi noventa, que son las que componen su filmografia. De estos catorce westerns, solo uno es sonoro y este, declaradamente primitivo.
