Ϝάδ- ( γάδεται ἥδεται H.), aor. ἡσθῆναι (IA.), fut. ἡσθήσομαι (S., Pl.), aor. med. ἥσατο (ι 353)Compounds: also with prefix, esp. συν-; rarely act. ἥδω, ἧσαι, ἥσω `have pleasure' (Antipho Soph., hell.; after τέρπω a. o.; Schwyzer-Debrunner 228). The 2. member - ηδης agrees with Skt. prá-svādas- `pleasant' (RV. 10, 33, 6); the nasal suffix in ἡδ-ονή is seen in Skt. svā́d-ana- `making tasteful' (RV. 5, 7, 6), - anam n. `be tasteful' (class.). - See ἡδύς and ἁνδάνω, also ἀδημονέω.Page in Frisk: 1,622-623Greek-English etymological dictionary (Ελληνικά-Αγγλικά ετυμολογική λεξικό) > ἥδομαι
