* * *Die Bill of Rights besteht aus den zehn ursprünglichen Amendments (Änderungen oder Zusätzen) zur Verfassung der Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika, die 1791 in Kraft traten. In einer Reihe von durchnummerierten Artikeln listet die Bill of Rights die Rechte auf, die jedem amerikanischen Bürger garantiert werden und definiert die verschiedenen Zuständigkeitsbereiche von Staat und Bundesregierung. In der Bill of Rights sind Religions-, Versammlungs- und Pressefreiheit (First Amendment), das Recht, eine Waffe zu tragen (Second Amendment), und das Recht auf eine faire Gerichtsverhandlung (Sixth Amendment) festgelegt.
