Новый метод коррекции ошибок, превосходящий метод Рида-Соломона и Витерби. Предполагает повторно-итеративный процесс, похожий на турбонаддув в автомобильных двигателях (отсюда и название: турбокод или турбированнвый код). На первом проходе производится устранение отдельных ошибок, затем процесс повторяется для повторного устранения оставшихся ошибок передачи. За счет этого снижается до минимума необходимая избыточность прямого исправления ошибок FEC.
