Остатки индейских племен были разгромлены здесь в "битве у поваленных деревьев" [ Fallen Timbers, Battle of] (1794). По Гринвиллскому договору [ Greenville, Treaty of] (1795) индейцы уступили США большую часть будущего штата, что открыло земли Огайо [Ohio Country] для переселенцев.
